Alright gentlemen, batten down the hatches and stock up on TP and 0w20 or business as usual?

"Human-to-human transmission of the current hantavirus - specifically the Andes virus involved in the early 2026 cruise ship outbreak - is rare but possible through close, prolonged contact. The fatality rate for this severe respiratory disease is high, with estimates reaching 30% to 50%."

One of those affected travelled on an airplane and another went to a wedding in Turkey.

What's your take, too early to tell?

Hantivirus has been known about and been around for a long time. Usually spread by inhaling dried mouse droppings in enclosed spaces. The South American variant has always been known that can be transferred human to human through very close contact. Given what I have recently learned on this board regarding upside down pineapples and cruise ships this incident doesn't surprise me.

I presume they will get it pinned down pretty quickly.

I heard they were birdwatchers.

They shouldn’t have let anyone get off that ship 😬
From the sounds of it once they knew what it was they did not. Cape Verde would not let anyone off. They sent medical personnel on board but no departures allowed.

question is where did they get it ? In Arg or on the ship . i am betting in Arg
It was almost a month between the first death on the ship and the next two. Hard to say - it has a long incubation period apparently.

The ship has rats and the feces and urine are contaminating both the air and surfaces. Get them off the boat. Isolated Medical detainment in a sanitized environment will stop the spread.
Scuttle the ship in the Marianas Trench. "69" it to use the pre-new gen reappropriated meaning of the term.

A lot of people will find out that Hantavirus is a staple of the American Southwest.
Gene Hackman's wife died from hantavirus.

Hackman's house was infested with it. Mouse crap was everywhere. It went under contract and sold for $6.3 Million just days after being listed last January. Life goes on.... Regardless of how big of a deal the press tries to make of it.
