Hand held devices for oil analysis?

Years ago, I got one. Think it was from MN somewhere, but can't recall. AMSOIL said they wouldn't back any warranty with it. When AMSOIL made a reformulation, it screwed up the readings beyond belief-- supposed to calibrate it with the oil, which would be fine for a company using a 55 gal drum.

Another business write-off.
 
If you don't mind my asking Shannow, what's the "red hot paperclip" for - flash test to detect fuel loading...ignition source?
