My wife called and tells me the Fusion has hail damage to the trunk, roof, and hood. She was in Edwardsville(15 miles away) and they had 1 1/2 inch hail. I just got off the phone to the ins. co. and they are confident the dents will be fixed without painting. My daughters MB had a couple of door dings and recently had them removed without body work, so hopefully this damage can be repaired as well.

I just got back from a close to 6,000 mile trip and saw hail here and there. One thing I really noticed (esp in South Dakota and Ohio) was major dents on most of the cars in the parking lots I was at.
Was concerned that some of the hail was going to damage the Subaru but got lucky. Some of it sounded pretty hard.
Hopefully they can get it out without any paint work. I've seen some serious dents taken out so it is possible!
If you get a chance, take some before and after photos if you can.

Hail damage in Germany is common and very destructive.I had a bike tank that looked like a golf ball,a smashed windshield and a cracked rear tail piece.I thought my car at the time was totalled but they fixed it,even under florescent lights you couldn't tell.
They used a warm then dry ice method on the dents,it works perfectly with no painting.

People in Texas have been killed from softball sized hail. Cars damaged? Roofs on homes have been totaled! It's no joke and extremely dangerous to get caught in that.

People in Texas have been killed from softball sized hail. Cars damaged? Roofs on homes have been totaled! It's no joke and extremely dangerous to get caught in that.
Had a vehicle that was damaged too. Best way to see it was by wetting it down then looking from an angle.
They replaced the Hood and removed all the other dents. Vehicle was then completely repainted.
I would get Three estimates and make sure it is fixed correctly.

I had hail damage on 2 vehicles 3 years ago. The body shop did a fantastic job without any repainting.

this may sound stupid but i've fixed hail damage with dry ice, put it on top of the dent and temp change causes the metal to contract and can pop the dent out, as long as they aren't creased.

You should have seen the hail storm that hit my town back in the summer of 2006. We get hail here often but as a rule it is small stuff. This was MAJOR hail on steroids. Never seen anything like it before and hopefully never will again. It did BILLIONS in damage. The hail in some parts of town was literally the size of baseballs( here )and so much fell the ground looked like we had a blizzard. Nothing but solid white. NO question if you got caught outside in that storm you could have been seriously hurt or even killed. Hurt bad for sure.
My 3 month old truck had $12-$15K worth of damage done to it( screwed by insurance company though - they would only pay $8K ). Not one body panel( except for tailgate )that did not look as if someone took a roofing hammer to it. We tried and you couldn't find an area that had more than 2" between dents on the roof and hood. Just TRASHED the truck. Smashed the windshield out and even broke pieces off the vent visors over the exterior windows( smoke colored acrylic visors you stick on ).
The local car dealers suffered big time losses too. The Chevy garage where I got it lost about 75% of the vehicles. Their Dodge dealer on the other side of town lost every car on the lot. EVERY ONE! The hail was so bad there that it was taking chunks out of the concrete building! In my area it was really bad too. It was blowing holes right through the siding on houses it was so bad. The local Walgreens had the roof collapse from the storm. Not sure we had a tree left in our town with any leaves on it that sumemr after the storm either.

Believe it or not what is shown is mild compared to what some of us got. What is really odd is there was no warning of this storm( or any weather disturbance ). I can't believe people get KILLED by hail - you never hear about it on the news! I've never heard a report 'X people killed in major hail storm'.....it would be all over the news if that happened.
I've heard stories about bad hail storms and property damage, but no-one really getting hurt. I mean, lots of people get caught out in rainstorms; so large numbers of people must get caught in hail storms, and there would he hundreds of causlties each time, but you never hear about it.....
