OWNED!!

The officer was totally justified. The officer is being professional and calm. The Perp was cussing, non cooperative. Heck, it could have turned our worse - Say the guy had made it to the cab of the pick up and the officer had thought the guy was reaching for a weapon. The guy could have gotten a double tap to the chest and died!

If I were a bad guy, I would rather get hit with a tazer than get a night stick to the knees or head or worse get shot with hollow points resulting in death or a sucking chest wound (Those are really painful- I've seen that!)

Just an officer doing a professional job.

Totally agree. If he didn't have that Tazer he would have hade to shoot the guy-no question. I hope dude learned a lesson..but I doubt it

Gotta love all of those non-lethal devices the cops are carrying these days. It's just too bad that many smaller department can't afford these items.

Heck, my local police dept just got there first in car camera about a year ago - and they only have one. The camera totally justified this officer's actions.

I doubt that even seeing on video what an idiot he was would change that guys attitude. Some people are just too dumb to learn.

I was impressed with the officers professionalism. I'm amazed that an officer can maintain that level of professionalism in the face of people like they have to deal with.

all i can say is two words: 'law suit'.

sure the officers behavior was reasonable. but if you listen closely the 'victim' was unable to put his hands behind his back ("i can't"). i am sure that there is some lawyer out there who would be able to find a doctor to certify this guy has a limited range of mobility and that the officer unduly 'tortured' this fine citizen (its unlikely he will consent to a blood/breath test so all you have is refusal -- not dui) on his way home from a hard day's work. of course, if the officer let him drive off, the officer is still at fault. so its a big no win.

personally, i think dash cams are a bad idea. civil burdens are quite a bit lower and with the juries we have nowaday, its really too much "evidence". its better to let the idiot rely on what fragments are floating around in his adled brain.

Lawsuit is one word...

You have to be there to know. Having worked in the field you have to make split second decisions. Personally, that guy would never have touched me. At this stage this guy probably would have got a smack just right below his knee caps from me. My gun would have never cleared leather until he has a weapon in hand. The officer had to tazer this guy because he was going for the cab of his truck and being un cooperative, plus already made physical contact with the officer. What are you going to do if you let the guy get to the cab and pulls out a gun, tire iron etc... Now it has gone from using a tazer or nightstick to a possible gun battle? For the ones here crying LAWSUIT, you have apparently no training in Law Enforcement techniques. There is very little reasoning with some folks on drugs, alcohol, or mental illness.

What it is called in the end is personal reasonsibility. Being a mature adult. If you are going to play with drugs or alcohol or both, stay a home.

Most Law Enforcement officers are good decent folks. The officer in question did behave professionally and reasonsibily. People need to trust cops until they prove theirselves wrong.

In other words, support the cops quit crying for the idiot who brought this upon himself. If you are angered by this video I suspect maybe you have been in trouble with the law and got a bone to pick?????? Maybe I'm wrong?

I doubt it. The guy is not black and it is somewhat difficult to sue municipalities. He might try but I doubt He'll get anywhere.

while i feel the officer was justified, that doesnt mean that you couldnt convince a handpicked jury of twelve 'peers' otherwise (i also dont think you can sell coffee that is too hot but i digress). there is a good chance you could just get a settlement/payment without going to a full trial from the municipality just to make the 'problem' go away.

Tasers are problematic and rightly so.

In one case a school police officer tazed a crazy kid.

Shortly therafter the kid entered cardiac arrest.

Same thing happened with a senile senior citizen.

Furthermore it is only a matter of time that Tazers can be abused by ruthless detectives and officers as questioning/cooercion "tools."

Tasers have to many risks.

I prefer the sanctity of a pistol which everyone understands.

Tazers open the door to more triggy happy behavior.

At least in the above cases clearly physical means could have been used to restrain them.

Sorry to the law enforcement officers here but the kid and sr. citizen dying is Manslaughter.

It is also cruel and unusual punishment as well.

Unless this is more regualated and studied by the NIH/FDA/OSHA or whoever checks these things I anticipate more people going into Cardiac Arrest by these things.

Hmmm, might as well hit me with a Cadiac Defibrillator next time a cop considers me "incooperative."

Again no offence to the cops here, but how many times have you accused someone of being "incooperative" just for literally speaking.

Thats free speach buddy.

It is tantamount to torture if you Tazed me just because you do not want to hear me talk in or out of custody.

Think about it.
