Had my first habanero pepper today. Man vs Food was the inspiration to try something truly painfully spicy.

I'll eat spicy stuff, only when I'm in the mood. So today was Dad vs Food

Sliced up the pepper, ate a smallish square, it was hot, but no big deal. So I cut up the rest of it and mixed it into a small bowl of light-duty salsa. WOW. HOT. OUCH.

But good....

After eating only one, I was drenched in sweat.

One down, one to go. Nahh, the other one I'll have some other time. That's enough for one afternoon...

Glad to hear someone is living the dream. I had my first Jalapeno today off my topsy-turvey-pepper-thinger and it tasted like a pea... about as spicy as milk. I guess my fault for buying pepper plants from a big box store.

I had a rude encounter with spicy. Few months ago a friend and I go to a wing joint and being stupid I ordered all the most spicy 4-5 "flame" rated wings. 4 different flavors, 5 each. I had ONE wing at which point my tongue got swollen and I couldn't handle anymore. I was stuck drinking milk and sucking on ice for the rest of the night. At one point I accidentally rubbed my eye and then I suffered those consequences. Big waste of a night.

Took it into work and an East Indian guy thought it was juuust right.

I love spicy food and regularly eat hot peppers like this while others watch in awe. Love the sweat factor!

Like the Op's signature... "Framville" that's funny!

I once had half a Habanero with lemon juice.I ate it in one shot and it burned like [censored],but it was good with lemon.I did it because somehow the lemon juice in it made it seem tasty.

man, I've planted these thai peppers this year and they've grown like mad. They are all green right now, but as a novice gardener I am curious as to how hot they will be...

Not that I know of... But I know that Cayenne pepper is being looked at a miracle food and aids in digestion and works as an anti-inflammatory. My Naturopath told me about it and I have read about it online as well.

I've had Jalapenos straight with no problems, Habanero's I haven't tried straight up but had a chance encounter while it was mixed in with something. Wasn't to bad. I love spicy food, the hotter the better.

I had friends try to "dupe" me, they had Fiery Habanero Dorito's, and threw in 2 bottles of Cayenne Pepper into it and shook it up. They then offered me some chips, so I grabbed a handful and ate em. I called my buddy Jim over(who also loves hot foods/spicy things) and we both were munching away. The two friends were in awe, and called me Leather Mouth. It was hot, but not enough to make me flinch or sweat!

I put Cayenne Pepper on my Popcorn(no butter, just plain). It's great!

Now Pure Death Chili is another story. Just smelling it makes me cry, and having it "exit" leaves a many people not walking straight for a day or two lol.

I grew a habanero plant one year. The peppers were as advertised. I took it in over the winter and kept it alive, replanting it the next spring. It was HUGE. But some of the peppers were of the usual hotness and others you could eat like green peppers.

Through it all I decided that self-torture was not my cup of tea and I stick to the more pedestrian pains.

I like using fresh Thai peppers for stir fry or soup.. It gives a nice heat but you need to eat it right away as the heat will slowly decrease. The heat and taste is different than using a hot sauce for example. Nothing beats fresh hot peppers.
