Old news. There was a huge problem of that and now they have evolved, more like reusing rancid oil from one restaurant for another purpose in another restaurant. I think they figured that it is better to transfer the oil in tin can between places than down the drain.

The bigger movement these days is a lot of restaurants are using central kitchen premade food in pouches, so they don't even need to cook in the kitchen, just microwave a frozen bag and serve their customers. So the gutter oil problem doesn't even exist anymore.

I personally won't want to pay a premium to eat TV dinner in a restaurant, but unfortunately that's what happen these days there.
