Since I've lost all contact with Shell I'm not sure anymore what's in it. I still use it and it has always performed well for the past 20-years.

There was a big discussion on this topic here a while back with differing opinions. Some pointed to the MSDS sheet, but in my experience and opinion not all ingredientes, especially proprietary are listed on those sheets.

I've used Regane Total Fuel System Cleaner for many years and have found it be a good product. I will continue to use it.

Probably doesn't definitively answer your question, but I'm not sure that specific answer exists.

I would not know what to smell for, but you are saying you detect this amine in current formula's?

I smell the amine in Regane and it is likely to be the correct one. I prefer Redline SI-1 but I can't always get that at the price I want so I get Regane so long as it still has that special amine smell. Just last night I noticed that Prestone Complete Fuel System Cleaner (gray) has the amine smell and sells 16oz for the same price that Regane sells 12oz. Hear that Gumout? Time for a price drop!

The smell of amines is unmistakable even if you are smelling it for the first time.

You keep giving these things the old nose test and we will all be standing around your grave saying amine (amen).

Just bought a bottle today at Wal-Mart, first time I've ever seen it on the shelf around here. All it took was one trip to Wal-Mart to remind myself why I never shop there. But that's another topic.

I guess there's no way to really tell how good it is other than seat of the pants feel, but I thought I would give it a shot due to good recommendations here.
