so is there any additive out there that is benefitial to put w/castrol gtx or any dino oil that gives good effects such as maybe something gtx w/start up protection could give? thanks
Don't worry, the marketing people don't know anything about oil either. Their job is to sell the stuff. Who cares what's in the bottle. M1 is just an ordinary synthetic mix of some kind, but it's marketing is very effective. Don't you want the oil that is the factory fill on so many high end cars. And look at all the M1 stickers. They are all over NASCAR cars and racing cars, too. They are everywhere.
yo thx for all the help guys but my question is "so is there any additive out there that is benefitial to put w/castrol gtx or any dino oil that gives good effects such as maybe something gtx w/start up protection could give?"
Nobody here knows specifically what is in GTX Start Up! (and if they did it would probably be illegal for them to tell you.) An oil with lots of moly might coat the metal parts of the engine. I think this might be what GTX Startup claims to do? Unless you are a chemist with GTX and have a research lab at your disposal there is no way to know. A moly aditive is an interesting idea. I see 3 choices.
1) Use GTX. Be happy
2) Use GTX Startup. Be happy.
3) If you are that worried about it use a 0w-30 synthetic and have UOA done.
For what its worth I'm using plain GTX 5w-30 in a 2005 Jeep with less than 7100 miles on it because GTX shows the least iron wear in engines similar to mine. I just don't think you have a situation worth losing sleep over.
