I had an emergency repair to do on my mothers well pump.
Went out Sunday morning and she is home bound.
I got the above stainless steel pump- High $600 range

It works fine etc. But I read the warranty which seemed pretty cheesy.
24 month warranty
The small print? 30 months warranty from build date of the pump.
So if your plumber, wholesaler, etc. has one on the shelf for a few years, your screwed.

Pumps used to be 5 years or so.
But that 30 month small print is a bit cheesy...

Also the literature in the box couldn't decide if it was made in the USA or Mexico- it said both everywhere.
Not can be one or the other but the opposite

My parents just replaced their 30 year old cast-iron deep well jet style pump with foot valve in their 100ft well 2 summers ago when the valve failed.
They put in a pump similar to yours.

This was based on having better pressure with these newer style pumps versus the older ones that made a lot of noise, used a lot of power and pressure sucked at best.

Their neighbour put this pump in 12 years ago when theirs failed (my parents had just moved in then) and it's still the same pump and it's still working. I don't know what brand the pump is but it is the same type as my dad and I were over there when they were putting it in trying to learn what his well might look like. (House was built at the same time and same layout etc.)

Just to give you an idea of the life expectancy on these pumps.

Good luck with yours.

Just under 150 ft. No sand.
But we will need a new well.
Just a temp fix for now- old pump lasted 11 years-but I call it severe service
Well is going slowly- been pulling a bunch of clay for 4-5 years

Thanks Steve
Mine is 21 years old ( Franklin) in a 350 feet well and my fingers are crossed
Lucky so far. Here now we go to 300-400 feet and a few 700 footers are in the area.
In the old days-late 50's you got a 60-80 ft hand dug well.

I have 150' Sand (I think). Its slowing more and more each year. Neighborhood is all wells. Houses all the same age, built approx 2002. Guy across the street can run his sprinklers back to back 20 min programs twice a day. Thats probably 8-10 gpm. We can't get 3 mins of water per zone. So I estimate we are down to under 2 gpm. Does the pump go dry? We installed a mono-drive setting pump speed to maintain 55psi and protecting against run dry. No pump problems since.

I had a centrifugal cast iron pump in the basement that lasted 20 yrs or so. The metal line finally corroded through underground so we decided to go with a SS submersible into our 18 ft well with a new supply line. Well, that first pump lasted barely a year or so before it failed. The installer and OEM were not happy at all. I got a new one free of charge. That 2nd pump is now 5-6 yrs old. I recall the cost was around $500-$600 for a new one.

Yeah my parents were lucky because they live so close to lake Ontario they just needed to go down the height of the escarpment they live on until the natural water table fed by the lake. I've heard some of these wells can be really deep like you mentioned. Not that 100ft isn't deep though...

I got a new laundry pump recently with a similar warranty. Pointed it out to the guy at the pump store. He agreed it's cheesy and said they told the manufacturer it's cheesy. He said he knows they have some pumps sitting on a shelf for a year before being sold. The manufacturer assured him any pump would be covered from date of sale.

That pump wasn't a Grundfos, but hopefully such warranties are only to cover themselves in extreme cases. If you bought it from a store and not more wholesale-direct in some manner, maybe the store will fight for you if there's a problem.

I thought I was getting a big rip-off pump markup when getting a Grundfos professionally installed, but the best price I could find online for the same pump was only $50 less. Was surprised that they really do cost that much now.

Mine is 381 ft deep. We get really good flow, but most are quite deep. I think I am only 150 ft above sea level.
