Reading & understanding the context of what is read is becoming a lost art!

Go back & re-read the above posts. No one has posted what can be even mildly intrepreted as a negative comment regarding Royal Purple motor oil!

On a variety of the Bitog forums, Transmissions, Coolants, Fuels & Additives, Maintenance, unDummy is constantly referencing MSDS sheets as to the chemical content of a product.

His comment is a perfectly natural & honest comment - He has not viewed a MSDS that states Royal Purple is PAO.

My comment is the same - up to this point, to the best of my recollection, I have not viewed any link that is a solid indication of the PAO content in Royal Purple.

If my comments or unDummie's are interpreted as bad-mouthing, I suggest you get a helmet because rougher roads are ahead for you!

Quite honestly,We use lots of different oils @ our shop.
WE run RP,Torco,Havoline,Valvoline,and Amsoil just recently.We've never had any drive-line problems using any of these products.So,hey run whatever you want.I've seen enough stuff apart from engines.rear-ends,transmissions. I know what works and have seen the results of running different lubricants. So, run whatever ya'll want

RP ~may~ be Group IV with Group I as a carrier oil for the additives including RP's Synerlec. [ whatever Synerlec is ]

When I spoke with Royal Purple's staff at the 2006 SEMA show in Vegas....they were jerks! Rude, arrogant, completely unhelpful, they seemed more like low class used car salesmen / hustlers.

Worse, it seemed like they were shucking and jiving about RP and danced around technical questions like they knew as much about oil as an auto parts clerk.

I went to the display willing to hear about RP and give it a chance if it seemed worth it. RP totally blew it.

Now Synerlec may be worth trying, or it may be an additive like various chlorinated paraffins that claim they are stable and not corrosive. Others claim that Synerlec is Molydisulphide in synthetic oil.

I have a hard time supporting a product that has a secret mystery ingredient.

RP rude show staff really alienated me, and there went the chance for me to try RP. Maybe the special bearing tests and dino numbers or enthusiastic forum members support are reasons to consider RP.

Or maybe RP does well in certain industrial applications and also in some vehicle applications, like drag racing or long haul trucking.

I might be mistaken, but I believe I have seen in the UOA section instances where M1 has sheared down signicantly.

Conversely, it was, I believe, Bill in Utah, who, while using Castrol GTX, posted a stellar UOA for his Toyota recently that featured low EVERYTHING wear related with an excellent TBN to boot. Now there's a GRP II kicking a$$!

Also, MC has produced some fine UOA's and it is a GRP II / III blend.

Bottom line? SM oils are all pretty good and one need'nt worry about them covering the engines' needs out side of some extreme circumstances (Alaska North slope comes to mind).

Personally, I'm using GTX in my truck.....oil + filter = $14 oil change every 5k.

When yall mention an oil shearing,is that refering to the thinning of the oil only when it`s hot (up to operating temperatures),or permenantly thinning,therefore no longer being the weight it was meant to be?
 
My most recent UOA ran on RP Racing 41 it had sheared to a 30 weight. Sorry UOA all around. My 408 Stroker just didnt like it. Doesnt mean another guys motor may love it. I wouldnt call that "bashing" at all....just sharing. The UOA is posted in the UOA section.
As for the never ending GrpIII vs. GRPIV oils.....who cares? It is all about the add pack (IMHO) anyway.....I get a garbage UOA on a GRP IV...what I need a GRP V? No....I need to tune my oil selction to my driving habits/motor/etc. and That may be a GRP III/IV or whatever...and to the guy that felt the RP sales reps were arrogant....I totally agree....I met some at the drags a few weeks ago in Houston...they had come over to look at the car....total jerks. Oh well....the RP CEO needs to fire all of his sales reps and replace them with a blonde with tig ol bitties and he'll get more from her than those sales monkeys.
