The current "war" in AI is between those generating it and those trying to identify it. Already for school, every time I submit something, it goes through an AI screener.

Yep. Counting up a large number of numbers correctly is a snap for computers. Not to mention fast...
Finance worker bees were the first to get IBM PCs; they were like $4,000 when they entered business back in the 80's. That was real $$ back then.

Medicine is going to be one of the biggest AI benefactors. Enhanced diagnostics, drug discovery and research, education, efficiency and so much more.

I have no reason to twist your post; I don't play childish games. You mentioned medicine in an AI thread; I responded to that. If you wish to explain what you meant, please feel free to do so. I am interested in quality posts.

But now I understand, you are not referring to AI, which is what this thread is about. And all my replys to you.
I cannot read your mind when you go off topic, so perhaps be more clear. Or just stay on topic.

AI itself needs to be able to identify AI, or what I call the "circle of derp" occurs. AI repeating bad answers that it learned from other AI.

True intelligence involves critical thinking to decide whether something is correct or not. AI today is just writing very wordy book reports without necessarily even reading the whole book.

Wow. Sad. I am certainly glad my wife and younger son both teach grammar school these days. Son did teach at a small college for a couple years but he got out of it to work at the school his kids are going to. I could not handle what you folks have to deal with in this
new age / modern world. Sorry Boomer rant/complaint #365. ;)
 
There is a difference between defend vs incompetent. Grok is just incompetent.

Elon tends to overpromise and ship half baked ideas to let customers do the testing. Grok is an example of that.

This is a veteran, an employee of one of the three-letter agencies, and a graduate student.

I agree in principle, but for me the real issue is - are humans smarts enough to not create something that will eventually kill them? I have my doubts.

Human has always been creating stuff to kill other human, and hoping that the other human would not do the same but assume they will regardless. That's the prisoner's dilemma.

Destroying each other for our own gain is etched into our DNA.
