Griot's Garaage paint sealant

What do the detailers here think of this product?

I have a 2008 black Tahoe that already has rolled 12k miles before I could get to the car and properly address the paint.

The first 6 months of care consisted of OTC car washes and wax as you dry products.

I'm kinda time challenged so after washing it I clayed the car to smooth the paint and then put the Griot's paint sealant on. The shine is really good and since this will a working vehicle, how well do you think this product will do as far as protecting the paint? Anybody have any experience with it? Well I've detailed a few co-worker cars, and a guys black ford ranger. I've never used Griots but used the Meguires pro stuff ( Tan Bottle) found at Napa, and used it on my Geo. I liked it,as it seemed to last long and was easy to apply. I used a porter cable to apply it. The general consensus at the autopia car care site is to layer some carnauba wax on top to give a little extra shine, and a little (negligible) protection. To really get your tahoe to shine (Mirror wet shine) i used some detailing glaze. It's supposed to "feed" the paint if you will to give some extra depth to the paint. My suggestion would be to 1) Clay the vehicle to remove contaminants 2) glaze it for paint depth. 3) Use the paint sealant and then top it off with some carnauba wax. You'll be able to see yourself in the side of your new ride. Hope this helps

I have been a diehard Griot's Garage user for about the last 10 years. The Best of Show wax (to me) is unequaled in gloss and depth and will last you a good 4 months. It is hard to wipe off if you put too much on though. Anyhow, I have the paint sealant too and used it on my wife's vehicle when it first came out as a test. The sealant goes on and comes off easy. It does not last 1 year as claimed, however. I would say 6 months is what I got out of it. But still, easy to use so every 6 months is no problem.

As a side note, I just tried Meguire;s new Tech NXT 2.0 wax and its a dissappointment. I figured I would see what's aout there and try it due to the hoopla written about it. YEs, the NXT went on easy and came off easy but the gloss was lower than Griot's and the water beading the very next day was not impressive. Lastly, this hydrophopic water protection advertising is a gimmick.

Having been a NXT 2.0 user for the past two weeks or so, I cannot agree more with your assessments. It did go on and come off ultra easy, but the shine/depth just is not there. This is on a brand new car that is garaged too. I dare say that my beaters shined with Nu-Finish at least look as good shine/depth wise as this stuff. I'll probably give the NXT away to my Dad who will use anything.

I ordered and received the Duragloss #105 and Collinite 476S pure wax from auto geek. I plan on doing two #105 coats with a 12 hour cure time and follow up with the Collinite. Will post pics when its done!
