I have no protection on the truck right now. I stumbled upon this video and was quite surprised how good Griot's 3 in 1 works as a spray on rinse off product like Wet Coat. I decided to give it a try and it worked great. In fact the hydrophobics were as good or better than Wet Coat. However, I did spray a lot on the panel to fully saturate it.

I had originally planned on doing a quick correction and applying a coating but I may go the AIO + 3 in 1 route this time for time/convenience.

I think Griot's All-In-One Ceramic Wax + 3 in 1 is a very stout off-the-shelf option that should give you a solid 8-12 months of protection. Maybe longer with the AIO as the base.

Check out the water behavior. This is just 3 in 1 with no coating underneath. Not bad. Not coating level but good enough to airdry successfully.

I tried that once, and it did not work out for me. I use this stuff for the regular bi-annual claybar/polish/wax. It works very good for this. When I did the spray-on/rinse-off, it left a lot of spots. Glad to hear you had better luck. This is still my go-to for protection and shine.

It's not something I like doing as the spray on/rinse off are just for time saving. Coverage can be iffy but it worked great. It was very cool out and no sun so that helped. Pressure washer needed as well. Hose won't work obviously.

That’s the wax I use on a regular basis. Very easy to apply and wipe off. Long lasting. Hadn’t really thought of using it as a rinse aid.
Same with me. I use it pretty much every wash somewhere on the car (almost always the front end, hood, front fenders, and mirror caps), but I always apply it after drying. Works well and lasts a month or so. Considering the ease of application it's a no brainer for me. FWIW, my "hardcore" sealant/wax is Collinite 915. I apply 915 every 6 months or so.

I think most of the Sio2 spray sealants can be used this way. Griot's does put it on the label. Streaking is a common issue with that method even with dedicated products like Wet Coat. I personally have never had an issue but I always do it out of sun and cool panel.

Nothing will be a coating in terms of hydrophobics but the ease of use is a plus with the spray sealsnts.

Can Coat is just as easy to apply and is significantly better than 3 in 1.
After washing my black F150, I can wax it with 3 in 1, in 5-7 minutes, as it works like a detailer spray. Then I do it again in 24 hours for excellent results. Can Coat is applied differently, spray it on to a sponge and then apply carefully, watching where it streaks. There is no way I could wax my truck quickly with it. As the application is far more conventional.

It can be streaky. Doesn't bead that well either. That video I posted surprised me because it looked more hydrophobic than when using it as a spray on/wipe off. It's definitely durable though. Probably the longest lasting spray sealant.

What are the actual steps for the 3 in 1 as a spray on rinse off technique? I like to give it a try.
When car is wet, spray the product on the panel and rinse it with a pressure washing immediately. I think most of these Si02 sealants can be used this way. Griot's puts on the label that it can be used this way. You do risk streaking if you're not using a pressure washer and don't hit it right away. Durability will likely also not be as good.

I used a different but similar product on my car about 4 months ago. Today I just wet the car with fresh water, rubbed and dried with microfiber and no car wash. Shine remains great and water repelling (beading ) remain great. 20 minutes to get back to clean and shiny again.

Better, but significantly more expensive as well.

I just don't like the water behavior of the Griot's. You can tell they sacrificed hydrophobicity in favor of durability. The contact angle is around 96 degrees for G 3 in 1 which is meh. Your coatings are usually 105-115 degrees. I know some say it doesn't matter much but it makes a difference with how water rolls off the surface. Also helps airdry.

Rained overnight. Beading was ok but as I suspected it stuck to the paint more so than when I had Can Coat on. It's not a good or bad thing, but the better contact angle the quicker that water jets off the surface.

I know some might dislike Pan, but you should try out his Clean Spray Ceramic Sealant. Very versatile and can be used as a spray and rinse. Hydrophobics are better than Griot’s 3 in 1.

I was thinking of trying one of his coatings too. His products do get great reviews.
