Greenish oil in small engine.

I was over at a friends house the other day and his snowblower had it's oil changed before the end of last winter and ran for a few minutes to make sure the oil was circulated and it was shut off for the season. We looked at the oil on the dipstick it looks greenish. It looks clean with nothing in it but it has a greenish hue to it when the oil that was put in it was a normal brownish tint. I've noticed the same on my uncle's generator, but thats because the oil was in there for 15 years and probably had about 5 hours of use. What causes this?

Did he by any chance run some extra 2-cycle gas/oil mix in the motor? I did that with my lawnmower one year, and it made the oil greenish, because some of the blue 2-cycle oil built up in the crankcase.

No 2 stroke oil in this machine. When he asked me he told me the only thing that was ever in his gas the proper dose of stabil to keep the fuel system from gumming up.

The oil in my lawn mower (6 HP B&S) is usually greenish.
