Green/Gold coolant

My 2000 Powerstroke came with green coolant and after having a new waterpump put in the service dept put in gold coolant.I know there is no maintance on the gold coolant.I have two questions about the green and gold coolant.(1)After you drain and fill to capacity the green coolant what is the process of adding more green to the system?Do you add equal parts of green and distilled water or just coolant?The same question applies to the gold coolant.Any help would be great.Thanks Joe

The green stuff is the standard stuff used. The gold (ford) is the premium 5-year, 100,000 mile (extended-life) stuff.

either coolant (green or gold) you will need to mix with 50% distilled or reg. tap water. So a 50/50 mixture is what you are aiming for.

Anything less than than 40% coolant you'll have a higher rate of corrosion to the coolant system. Anything more than 60% coolant, you will have mechanical problems (i.e. waterpump etc.).

Gold meets Ford Specs.: WSS-M97B51-A1

Green meets Ford Specs.: ESE-M97B44-A
ASTM D 3306-00A


PS- do not mix green with gold coolant. stick to the same color.
