Great Deal On A Panasonic 42" TV?

I think it's a great deal. I bought my 42" Panasonic four years ago, when Consumer Reports rated it as the most reliable brand. Reliability is the biggest factor for me when purchasing a product.

Of course mine is a plasma, and other brands have hit the top for reliability. But Panasonic is still up there.

Same price as on Amazon right now. It is getting to be an older model but was always highly rated. A couple of hundred dollars less than it was just a few months ago if I recall correctly.

Edit: I had never been to slick deal before, I didn't notice the link to Amazon unti just now. A good deal regardless.

Go to Nextag.com first. I think this is a good deal but we just got a Sharp Aquos 1080 52" for $588. It is a nice TV and was on sale for $1399 on AMAZON so just give Nextag a try. Panasonic is a little better. Samsungs are nice too. The one of best IMO.

Unbelievable price on 52" Sharp Aquos. I bought 1 about 3-4 years ago for almost $2k, it was excellent deal then but way over priced compares with today price. Look like price of HDTV dropping about 20-25% a year but better quality.

It's part of the slickdeal mentality. Buy first, ask questions later. Why? Because if you don't, they will run out of stock. Besides, Amazon has a 30-day return and pricematch policy on TVs...and they even pay for return shipping. So I had nothing to lose if I decided to change my mind.

All December Fry's had a 46" Sony LCD for $599 that I picked up...so I guess thats a decent deal.

I prefer Samsung/LG TVs but that's just me. My parents have been eyeing a new 58" Panasonic Plasma that is a great price at work to replace the dying 57" Sony Rear projection (1080i, and blegh picture quality) we've had for 5 years. But since we just got a new washer and dryer, that is being put off until the thing actually dies.

Just bought a 42" Westinghouse myself. The second TV I bought from them. Also doubles as a very nice monitor. (Call of Duty Black Ops at 1920 X 1080....)

it's funny. these lcd flat screens are dropping in price like flies. I bought a house in november, the house came with two flat screens that were wall mounted. then I got a free 42 inch LG LCD tv when I bought $2500 in furniture at a furniture store. then my in laws got me a 32 inch vizio lcd flat screen for xmas 09. before xmas 09, I never had a flat screen before, but now I have four of them! people have upgraded this past xmas, I keep inheriting these old crt TVs. I got 8 tvs now. my inlaws got a 55 inch vizio lcd flat screen for xmas and they are looking for someone to take their 40+ inch CRT tv. (it's really heavy)

My Westinghouse 42" is over 3 years old now, and I still like it. Was $950, so no regrets.

We got a Panasonic 37" open box at BB, maybe only $450 a year ago. It's sweet. Has the feel of quality, if such thing still exists.
