Great Brake Pad Test Video

Does anyone else suspect Cracker Barrel's new (now rescinded) logo was inspired by Repair Geek?

I don't know about the validity of methodology, but he sure likes to fall on his sword and complain about how much work this was.

I have no doubt it was a ton of work, but don't take on a project no one asked for and attempt to be a YT star and then ask me to feel sorry for you. The more YT monetizers beg me to like and subscribe, the more you can be sure I won't.

Sure, you're providing a service but you're not doing it out of the goodness of your heart -- you're doing it as a job, no different than the guy hauling your trash or fixing your toilet. Don't complain about your chosen path to income and expect others to somehow feel sorry for you and thus pay you more. Sorry, not sorry.

I simply buy semi metalic pads and that is all.
My results did once match the video: I purchased some uber cheap semi-metallics for our '08 F150 and they were terrible. Yeah, I bedded them in but it didn't help. Braking power was low and modulation was like stepping on a block of wood.

I know you're not promoting bottom dollar. I'm just saying material composition isn't everything. Some semi-metallics are good while others are not, and ditto for ceramic.

Anyone ever see a discussion on brake pads, comparing static friction vs dynamic friction?
TBH, I skimmed through the video, but for panic stops, I was surprised that there was any significant difference at all between regular performance pads(ones with good cold pad friction) in the first two stops? Ones with slightly more or less friction should be compensated for by adjusting the pressure on them?
But I guess if your are getting hard into the ABS activation range, pads with a significantly higher static friction, compared to their dynamic friction, require the ABS to release more brake line pressure before that wheel gets back up to speed where more brake pressure can be applied again? ABS is fast but having to change brake line pressure over a wider range takes more time and makes longer stopping distances, as the tires spend less time closer to the ideal under rotation speed.
I think an ideal brake pad would have equal static and dynamic friction coefficients, so the ABS would only need to intervene slightly to reduce brake line pressure, to get the wheel turning at the ideal under rotation speed?

Also next time I get brakes, I will look for Wagner OEX or Quaker State or AC Delco professional.
