Grease that doesn’t leak in the heat?

I can tell you from experience that Lucas Red n Tacky is a leaky mess in a hot garage in June. I dripped red oil all over my driveway greasing my tractor. Is there a commonly available tubed grease that doesn’t liquefy in the summer?

AutoZone had Mobil 1 synthetic on clearance for $4 a tube so I bought the three in stock. I’m hoping it’s better.

I've had Mobil 1 leak a lot. So far Valvoline Cobalt has not leaked.

Mobil 1 synthetic grease leaked a bunch for me years ago never bought it again.

Believe it or not, Lucas green grease has been doing real well in the heat. I think it might be a keeper.

This has been discussed before. Supposedly if you lock the spring handle thing back and take the pressure off the grease cartridge it will leak less. Mine has been locked back but haven't looked at it in a while.

So far, Mystik. #2 JT-6 High Temp Grease has been the best for not leaking, and Mobil 1 synthetic grease leaked the most

Mobil 1 Synthetic was leaking last time I used it, but that was over 5 years ago. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad for your ball joints.

However, if it’s a pain, and I get it, there are other synthetics that leak less. For Canadians, Motomaster Synthetic leaks less.

I've had M1 leak a lot. So far Valvoline Cobalt has not leaked.

Same for me. Leaked like crazy right in the gun. Had to keep gun itself in a big ziplock,
not to make huge mess just sitting there.

Was it the old or new formula Lucas Red that was leaking on you?

Every single grease I have ever loaded into a grease gun has leaked in the heat. Every one of them. I have since resorted to using the "Mini Cartridges" in the "Mini Grease Gun". I install a fresh cartridge, then grease everything I need to. Afterward I then simply remove what's left in the cartridge, (which is usually most of it), and toss what's left.

I keep the mini cartridges in a small fridge I have, so they're cool when I use them. I end up wasting most of it, but at least I don't have a dripping, running mess to deal with every time I want to grease something..... Like I used to with this. (I believe this was Lucas Red & Tacky before it turned into Lucas Red & Runny).

I think this varies tube to tube, or that is my experience, even with the same brand. One tube will leak and the next won't.

I don't know if the mix varies or the lithium added is not consistent.

Valvoline synthetic in the black/darkgrey package. The stuff does NOT separate and that's why it currently one of my favorite greases.

The lucas that I prefer is the green Xtra stuff--polyurea grease. It also does not separate.

It’s not that Exxon Mobil does not know how to make grease. It’s the liquid portion of the grease that does the lubrication. The carrier just helps keep it in place. We’re complaing that it makes a mess, but once it’s inside the boot it’s doing a very good job. If your boot is ripped, yes, it would be a poor choice.
