I use a mix of synthetic motor oil and grease. Get it to a consistency that won't run. It will last a long time. But I clean my 1911 after each range visit. Good for rifles too.
Light coat of TW25 works wonders on my 1911. I noticed I can fire about 200 rounds on my Dan Wesson Commander before it gets carboned up and has a failure compared to gun oil that number is much smaller before a failure.

If that’s all it takes to introduce a malfunction, lube heavier or switch lube
1k rds out of any of my 1911’s without any malfunction is normal but I run em wet
I’ve got a Staccato 2011’s with easily over 3k rds that is only occasions wiped down and bore snaked and a couple others with around 1,500rds and have never had a malfunction
