HI EVERYONE im having a problem with my 98 grand am 3100v6 it runs great and smooth but for some reason only way it will start is to have your foot on the gas usually 1/4 to 1/2 way down when it starts it idles high for about 3 seconds then is perfectly fine does this warm or cold no check engine lights but im thinking fuel pressure regulator or throttle position sensor been doing this for about 2 months now im stumped.

My Malibu has started really really hard with the same motor since it was new unless it is extremely cold outside...I don't have an answer but I'd like to know. I can start mine without putting my foot on the pedal but I have to crank it for several seconds unless I turn the key, wait five or so seconds for the fuel pump to pressure up (I think) and then crank it to start.

It seems like you may have a leaky injector. It may be bleeding off a little bit.

Try this. Turn key forward to first notch until fuel pump turns off. Turn key off and then back on. Repeat about 3 or 4 times and then try to start.
