I really need new tires for my 2013 Acura RDX (170k)which is somewhat of a beater commuter.

It’s driven 1000 miles/month commuting every other week.

Walmart has some inexpensive tires called Goodyear Reliant for $130/tire (no idea on installation). There are so no name brand tires as low as $100/tire and the other well rated is Douglass for $108.

Any suggestions?

I commute 100 miles/day every other week. It’s a handful in heavier rain as tires nearly to wear bars . Snow thankfully I get a pass from commuting and work remote.

The Goodyear Reliants are an exclusive tire made tire for WalMart. They are soft, quiet and comfortable tires which may suit your "beater" RDX which has a somewhat taut suspension. WalMart will likely put the GY Reliants on sale during their annual Black Friday weekend sale at Thanksgiving. The tires will be discounted ~15% from normal retail and the tire installation package will be free if you buy 4 tires. Their tire installation package includes mounting, lifetime balancing & rotations, valve stems and a road hazard warranty. This normally costs ~$20 per tire.

Here is a link to a previous BITOG thread on the Goodyear Reliant tires.

Man that reads like AI. 😮

I've been very pleased with Goodyear Reliant tires, so much so that I installed them on couple of my vehicles.

Great tires for the price. And they perform very well, in my experience.

Is your size 235/60-18?

You should consider the cheap all-weather tires, such as
Prinx Hiseason 4S HS1
Lexani Quattro Tempo AW
Lexani Quattro Tempo Tour AW
Milestar seems to be increasing their prices, but if you still like them, Milestar Weatherguard AW365.
The GT Radial Maxclimate might also be worth considering, though they might cost more than you want to spend.

Installation is $18/tire at Walmart
Thanks appreciated did not know so many all weather existed for cheap! yea that is size.

I am a little leary that most of those tires seem to be another company(Prospect Tire) surfacing an ad thru Walmart. I’d prefer to order thru Walmart because if problem tire Walmart deals with it.

I've used both the Lexani & Milestar. Milestar has been around a long time. Neither one is top of the line, but but were better than running on bologna skins. Douglas been around a real long time, since the 70's. Used them before too. Never had a problem with either of those 3 brands. No sidewall bubbles or nothing. All depends on you're wallet, and how fat it is. Mine needs to put on a few pounds :)

The Reliant and the bit more expensive Assurance all-weather tires they sell have worked out well for us too. We have them on both of our Honda Accords for several years now. I have actually bought the Reliant tires more than once. Always buy the lifetime rotation, balance and road hazard because we can not seem to go even 6 months without catching a nail or screw or something in the roads around here. Walmart has replaced so many with new for us the past 4-5 years I have lost count.
The best part I like about those Goodyears is our Accords used to seem like they ate up others so very fast. Not these. Plus they ride and handle very well. Sorry for the Walmart/Goodyear type sales pitch. But it is simply our TRUE experience.

Now ready for at least several of the "Man oh man  , Goodyear makes those cheap junk tires to sell to cheap people exclusively @ Walmart's etc....." just like we hear at times said about other things.

What is wrong with a good product, decent price that one can get from a place with so many outlets you never get caught too far away if one needs warranty or some type follow up from them?

I just checked them again. They say sold and shipped by walmart.com :)

In some cases, there are marketplace sellers like you say, but there is often another option for them shipped by Walmart itself. Just be sure to check the other sellers in the sidebar.

The prices aren't really different for the WM-supplied tires vs the marketplace sellers

I just bought a set of Goodyear Reliant summer tires for my 2021 Equinox. I'm selling the vehicle soon, so I didn't want top tier. I didn't want bottom tier either, so I went with the middle ground. I have about 1,000 miles on them and I'm happy so far. The are smooth and realitvely quiet. I drove once in heavy rain and they performed fine. Spring is here in Michigan, so I doubt that I'll have any snow testing opportunities this season. Oh, well. The next owner can post their winter review. LOL

I would not overlook the Douglas tires if they have them in your size. Recently installed a set of Douglas tires on my beater Hyundai Elantra and have no complaints. 50K mile rated tire and is made in the USA by Goodyear. They just use older design tread patterns and rubber compounds to bring the cost down.

Agree.

Installed these in Henderson NV when I was driving the car I bought from its original owner in CA, across to NJ.

I haven’t adjusted air in over a year and all had barely any pressure lost.
