I'm currently back to college, I lost my job last October and decided to go back to shcool since then.

I have a 2011 chevy cruze with tire size 215/60/16.

Since I'm on a budget because I'm at college full time, I need a decent, well priced tire.
But I dont want to bump quality and safety as well.

I have to replace the Firestone FR710, they did a good job and were ok.

Let me know your inputs.

Thanks!

douglas from walmart, best installed price, i have used these for years on several vehicles and highly reccomend them

Not sure if they make it in your size, but I have been very happy with my Hankook Optimo H727's. They have about 20k miles and still drive and look new. They provide decent traction in dry conditions, slightly worse then my previous Cooper tires, but they are much better in rain snow and ice. I found it rather cheap to get tires from Discount Tire Direct? shipped to a NTB to install.

Check Discount Tire Direct on ebay. Currently $100 off on $400 purchase plus other incentives apply.

I'll third the Generals. I have 4 RT43 Altimax's on the KIA, some older Altimaxes on other cars and Grabber AT2's on the Jeep. Have bought 14 Generals in a row now and don't plan to buy anything else soon. Very high level of performance priced for mere mortals.

I have bought them all on Tirebuyer.com which has great prices and free shipping to boot.

Bridgestone Ecopia - 5K miles ago we purchased the tires for our 2012 Accord from Costco. We received a $70 discount with the purchase. They are rated for 60K miles and we have been really been pleased with the performance. Highly recommended.

Very common tire size, I happened to get a super cheap set at Goodyear once when they were having a buy 3 get one free and also had a $160 rebate when you buy 4. Four tires ended up costing me less than 2 tires as the price per tire was $125 for Assurance Tripletreds. With that said, I've seen cheap sets on Craigslist. I once picked up two tires on there for about $60 (guy was asking $100, talked him down). Had about 8/32's worth of tread on them, new was 10.

I'm having very good success with GT Radial Champiro VP1 on my Focus. Can be found at discounttiredirect.com for a around $70ish per tire. Very quiet tire after the break in (in my opinion).

Seems that there are more "good" tires on the market today than "bad" ones so long as your going through a reputable chain. I personally haven't purchased new budget car tires in a long time (either used for budget or new for quality) but I did go with budget priced truck tires in 2013. Cooper Discoverer in P265/70r17 and thay have been fantastic. On track to meet or beat the mileage rating as well as all the other favorable traits they exhibit.

Would NOT HESITATE to go with Coopers again- not to mention how much cheaper they were than so called premium brands like Michelin and BFGoodrich.

Wait for a super sale/rebate at Discount Tire. I bought on Presidents Day for a $150 rebate. Tire cost was just under $100 for a 10 ply for my pickup.

I second the recommendation for the Cooper CS3, or the CS5 Ultra Touring. I have Cooper tires and think they are by far the best value on the market.

Tire Crawler has the 215/60/16 CS3 H rated for $69.25 at the moment, and offers free shipping to a designated installer. Plus Coopers's $40 rebate on that model (good through April 15).

They have the CS5 Ultra for $73.15, plus a $60 rebate right now. The CS5 has the higher mileage warranty of the two.
