So a guy comes to our store with a ramp out of one of our trucks "he found". He jumped out demanding a reward or he was going to scrap the aluminum. I about

fell over. Talk about awesome morals. He was at our store for over 30 minutes and just recieved a $30 voucher good in store only.

The guy was driving a new chevy truck so I'm guessing he needed money to make his truck payment. He was the the type of person to look for lost items and then demand a reward before you get your wallet..purse back etc..

I deal with these types of people daily. But he has been the worst I have delt with in a while. AND he had his wife with him and she kept a straight face.. I just LOOOOOVE the people in this area.. so honest, friendly, caring and have morals

No.. I'm a few miles north.. I find overall the character and morals of people are VERY different south of Round Rock. Shoot, where I grew up I would shake their hand, tell them thanks for finding/returning it and help them unload it.
he was in his late 40's as well.. I could see my generation pulling a stunt like that but not my parent's generation..

Ever think maybe he actually found the ramp? Do you have any proof otherwise? Why didn't you just tell him to scrap the aluminum?

I have his address I want to see just were/ how this guy lives... I am REALLY curious..
Oh, the voucher was voided 2 minutes after he left...

Doog, do you drive a white chevy 1500? hhaahaa, i'm kidding.
He he may have found the ramp... but return it or LEAVE the dang thing Don't come in DEMAINING a reward.. what EVER happen to being a good person

I don't know. Years ago I saw very nice hand truck roll of the back of a beer delivery truck. I picked it up and called the company. I had to wait over an hour for them to get the driver over to my apartment. I gave it back to him and he insisted I take $20 for helping him out. Otherwise he would be buying a new one.
You should have given him a 20 and thanked him for returning it.

Or maybe he needed money for gas?
I would have been tempted to call the po.
The guy found what he knew to be your property and was shaking you down.
Who's to say that he didn't steal it off the back of one of your trucks?
OTOH, this is the same kind of guy who might have decided that you'd wronged him by calling the police, and who would then exact vengence by flatening a bunch of tires, or BB sniping a few windows.
If this guy is the wrong type of redneck, voiding that voucher may end up being the most costly $30.00 you ever saved.

MY POINT SHAW, IF HE WASN'T GOING TO BE A GOOD PERSON AND RETURN IT NOT EXPECTING A REWARD......LEAVE THE STUPID THING. I DON'T GIVE A SCRAP REALLY..BUT TO COME IN AND DEMAND A REWARD I THINK HE WAS A REAL POS

Dr. Dusty you played that all wrong....you should have just looked up and said..."well carry that ramp in here and lets have a look at it to see if it is ours". Then when he struggled in with it just say..." nope, that is not ours..but I'll give you $10 for it."

guys I didn't have much planning when this guy came in.. he just showed up.. or I would had a guy take his tailgate and "demand" an even trade...haaaahhhaaa or I will put a chevy tailgate with backup camera on CR for $75.....rotf..nevermind that would be at his pos level.. I'm a WAAAAY better person than he will EVER be

If he legitimately came upon this ramp and took the time and resources to return your property, I think you are obliged to compensate him somewhat. Lincoln freed the slaves.

Remimds me of when I stopped to put out a fire in the engine compartment in a guys pickup on the side of the road. Used up my whole fire extingisher. I asked the guy if he would mind paying to refil the extinguiser as he had not volunteered. He got upset and acted like I was ripping him off or something.

This is why I loved working in retail with mag-strip gift cards. Swipe, act like you're pushing buttons, here you go. Sorry, no receipt, boss would kill me for handing out gift cards.

Enjoy redeeming it when they tell you it was never activated.

Edit: For what its worth I would've just had the guy bring it in and if he made demands like that, I would've called the cops.

"This guy is trying to steal our ramp, which I can prove is ours, can you please remove his [censored] from the property? Thanks."

I helped an old lady change a tire a few weeks ago. Should I have demanded $50 before I started? afterall I could have just drive by and not gotten dirty.. and she may have had a stroke or heart attack..
