Good country music bands

Conway Twitty, George Strait, Porter Wagoner, Buck Owens, George Jones, Alan Jackson, Charley Pride, Jim Ed Brown, Red Sovine, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Highway 101, Restless Heart. Randy Travis, Dwight Yoakam, Earl Thomas Conley, Alabama, Marc Chesnutt, Rick Treviño, Tracy Lawrence, Tracy Byrd, Brooks & Dunn, Ricky Van Shelton

For new stuff, I like Midland and Jason James (even his album covers look like they’re from the 60’s)

- Garth Brooks
- Tim McGraw
- Faith Hill
- Martina McBride
- Brooks & Dunn
- The Band Perry
- Shania Twain (my dad had a major crush on this lil' Canadian belle)

I'm sure there are some others that I'm forgetting.

No one here has enjoyed Cody Jinks or Tyler Childers? That is really good new country that sounds like old country.

I don't listen to country at all anymore. Used to be a huge country fan (most mentioned on here) but found my 90's rock and grunge to be much more enjoyable to listen to.

I have a bunch of favorites. Alabama, Craig Morgan, Jo Dee Messina, Alan Jackson, Hank Williams Jr, George Strait, Rodney Atkins, Kacey Musgraves, Tim McGraw, John Denver, Mel McDaniel, Randy Travis.

I could sit here all day naming people lol. I love country music especially since I’m a country boy. Sorry most of mine aren’t bands there are plenty of great bands too.

Ive taken more to country in my later years for the simple fact that most use actual instruments like the super bands of the 70s and 80s.
Too much modern pop/rock/rap music is computer generated synthesized music with bebop and diddly its singing to it.
I dont get it, I guess I like instrumentation and the talent to compose and play it just as much as any vocals, ooh well, whatever.

I’m not sure if some of you would call it country, but lately I have been listening to two bands: Three Tall Pines and Turnpike Troubadours. Both bands have a heavy fiddle presence and words that can be heard, qualities which to my ears defines country music. You may feel different and that’s fine.

I listen to all types of music but for CM Shania Twain and the Mavericks put out some good stuff. This is one of my favorite Mavericks songs.

Glen Campbell, TG Sheppard, John Anderson, Alabama, Hal Ketchum and The Oak Ridge Boys. I don't care much for the newer bands.

Another one: Listen to the song Whiskey by the band Trampled by Turtles if you want a taste of newish country music. Available free on YouTube. Absolute poetry in my book. If that tune doesn’t move you in some deep way you are wearing a toe tag.
