Going to use castrol 5w50

Seems llike a great oil. Not sure that Mobil 1 0w40 was the best oil with my 1995 BMW m50 engine with hydralic lifters. I think slightly heavier oil would be better. The 0-5 part is better for cold start pump up as it will eliminate/reduce a rattle you get with heavier 20 weight oil on the M50 engine.

Just my experience to date.

I think the 5w50 is the right move. I've never seen 5w50 GTX, though. You must be talking about Syntec?

So who knows that phrase in Greek? How about Hebrew? I used to, but I'll have to go look it up.

Right now my car is in the shop replacing the infamous 5-series BMW "upper thurst arms". They fail around 90,000 plus miles and you get nasty clunks and shimmy. Part of older BMW owership, unfortunatly.

IMO, not a job for an old geezer to do without a lift and air tools.

Castrol 5W-50 seems to be another overlooked gem
******* oleum I say put it just recently in my papa's 2003 Altima with 4 cyl. engine and it seems to have made the engine much quiter at idle, no slugishness as some people reported.
Folks in europe use this viscosity even in their small enginess and with OCIs in the neighbourhood of 15-20K km they last over 200,000-300,000 km
