Since I am old school 3k to 4k oci's, I am going back to conventional. Picked up 6qts Havoline 5w20 from Walmart for about 17 bucks. Havoline's website says the 5w20 and 5w30 conventional are actually
synthetic blends so I feel comfortable about switching.

No no not at all. Sorry if you understood my post that way. What i meant is that there is no special spec or approval needed. Like Dexos1 etc. You are good to go with any API SN/ILSAC GF-5. Heck, your manual probably says SM/GF-4 like mine do.

And with rebates, so are Pennzoil Platinum and Quaker State Ultimate Durability at approx $2/qt. It's easy to find a top synthetic cheaper than a conventional. I have too much of a stash of $2/qt synthetic to even think about going back to conventional for at least 3 years.

Old School? You can do 3,000 on SE oil without problems...Today 5K is a walk in the park.

If you are dropping synthetic - you could just drop synthetic in your signature and that's a great oil too ...

You are going back to conventional, but are still hanging on to a synthetic blend?
Let it go.....go straight conventional, cold turkey, no regrets!
Find a support group and go for it!
Your engine will thank you for being a recovering syntheholic.
