My son has a 2004 GMC pickup . I'm pretty sure that the cabin air filter needs to be changed , but I have no idea where it would be located . He said that the owners manual doesn't say , but I haven't double checked him . Anybody here have an idea ?
My silverado SS is supposed to have one also. Parts store sent me a Wix. Seems the bottom of heat/ac box under dash on pass side has some sort of bolted on door. Looked under there a couple times. Never seen anything looked likely so filter's still laying on counter as shop. Sure I'll get back to it one of these days.
My Dad's 2000 Sierra has a cabin air filter, which I have changed with one from NAPA. Went to the same place on my 2004 Silverado, and looked, it *doesn't* have one. Where there was a cover plate and under it, little slot for the filter on Dad's truck, it wasn't there on mine.
If it's an '04, he really doesn't need to be worrying about something that doesn't exist.
On the Silverado they did away with cabin filters starting with the 2003 model year. There are inexpensive kits available to retrofit the newer models to accept a filter. Details are at one of the Chevy truck forums.
