I really didn't know GMB was a Japanese company until after looking them up just now. The only GMB parts I've heard of before wer really cheap aftermarket Chinese [censored].

What Japanese cars did/does GMB supply OEM water pumps to? Because they almost always use Aisin.

Interesting- the first, last and only Bosch water pump I used leaked about 10-15k miles after installation. I thought I was getting a good product, as it wore the Bosch name but I was wrong. I replaced it with an OE Hyundai pump and like the one I took off during the timing belt service, it is working fine.

I installed a GMB on my Dodge about 4 or 5 years ago. It is still fine. What I didn't like about it was the impeller was a little smaller than the one it was replacing.

Most Japanese OEMs use Hitachi, Yamada or Aisin - Aisin is found on mostly Toyota, Yamada is almost always Honda(and Subaru as of late), Hitachi is used on both Nissan and Subaru. I'm not sure about Mazda or Mitsubishi.

GMB and NPW are aftermarket brands.

From what I have gathered here, it's about a 50/50 feeling that GMB w/p's are ok. I contacted GMB and they stated the GMB w/p that came in the DAYCO t/b kit is a new w/p made in Japan. So, that being said, I feel a bit more comfortable about it doing the job. Granted, my son's Corolla has 240K miles on it so if it lasts' 50-100K miles I would say that's a win-win!
