hello, I have been looking in the forum but have had no luck

I have a '01 silverado w/8.1L (496ci) it is based on previous chevy big blocks and takes pf454 (1/2 quart) stock and I upgraded to upf1218 (1 qt)witch is the same mount plate just longer case, both have a ADBV, I am about to run out of my supply of these and I am looking for alturnatives before I order a bunch more upt1218's these two are also base compatable with the pf25 (half quart) pf35 (one quart) and pf932 (2 quart GM heavy) except these 3 do not have a anti drain back valve, I would like to use a 2 quart filter like the pf932 but with a ADBV, I read that K&N has them on all of their filters but acording to their web site they do not make the pf932 equivelant

any idea's? it has a 13/16-16tpi screw (very common in chevy) and a very wide seal seat it would take several diameters. like most chevys the pressure relief valve and bypass valve are in the block, the filter only needs have a adbv

from what I have seen this is the same base as the 305/350/400/427/454/496 and lot of other chevy v8's just the length changes

ps, I have read (second hand info) that there is some changes in the manufacture of the upf's???? if I order some more upf1218's from GM parts direct will I still be getting the good stuff?

K&N makes one with the ADBV, I believe it's the HP6002 actually.

Moroso also makes a 2qt filter, but I'm not sure if it's got the ADBV in it or not.

I've been considering going to this size of filter on my 95 Firebird. I'm currently using the K&N HP3002, which holds about 3/4 of a quart of oil, and is the cross reference to the PF1218 and PF35 size. I've still got lots of room for a bigger filter though, so these 2 quart filters would fit me just fine (they are 8" long, compared to about 5.25" for the one I'm using)

well I'll be, I don't know why the first time I went to K&N's site it did not cross.... must be that screw loose behind the keyboard

thanks for the info, I went down to my local parts store and ordered one $13, it wil be here Saturday, I am planning a used oil analysis on the current oil may run the K&N the same amount and do another see what can be seen, I am wondering witch will be better for my BBC synthetic media but less of it or more media and oil but less filtration

I compared my current UPF's to pictures someone else posted and I got different ones going to post pics in that thread soon

, also found out that the upf1218 is no longer available at GMpartsdirect and is discontinued, so I cannot even fall back on what I currently use (still have 6 left)

hmmm guess I need to do some more research and find a good new filter

That's odd that that K&N didn't have the antidrainback valve, as I had previously thought all of their filters had them. Perhaps with such a super huge filter they didn't feel it was needed? Odd. Have you tried out Wix to see if they make a racing filter in that size?
