I have a black lower glove box that seems to get kicked or nicked by people getting in and out of the car. On a black trim when you scuff it, it becomes white or grey. Is there a polish and trim cleaner i can use to make that white/grey mark turn black?

I've only tried to address this problem once with Meguiar dash cleaner/shiner and well it didn't work or i used too little. Its more of 2 marks i really want gone. I dont care for the physical damage but i just want that white eyesore gone. I've thought about using a sharpie for a while now.

Only thing I can think of is to try some plastic polish to smooth it out and blend it back in, but every car's plastic is different and it may not work.

Try a Mr. Clean magic eraser. A lot of time it is dirt embedded in the textured plastic. My sill plates seem to take the most abuse from dragging your shoes over them as you get in the car.

Be careful with an magic eraser. They can cause additional damage on colored trim. Use an APC in a diluted state to try to remove them. In the past, as weird as it sounds, I have used black shoe polish. Works quite well. Additionally, they do sell vinyl and plastic paint if you are up for that.

I worked at a dealership in college cleaning cars. We used lacquer thinner (dilute slightly if desired) on a rag, the only thing you need to be careful of is that the plastic is inherently black and not painted black (should be OK in this case). Then treat with a mild protectant like 303. I also find wiping firmly with my damp absorber after washing helps maintain a scuff-free look.
