GL-4, GL-5 question

My Eagle Talon manual transmission calls for " MOPAR Hypoid gear oil or equivalent API classification GL-4 or higher " according to the service manual. Does it mean that I can use GL-5 gear oil? It is very difficult to find GL-4 oil.

TurboFrog, try doing a search on "GL-4" and "GL-5" in this thread. Lots of discussion happened months ago.

Does your manual give you a weight for that lube? There ARE some GL-4 oils available, but you're right that GL-4s are not as easy to find as GL-5.

yes, gl-5 would be classified as higher than a gl-4 and should give you no problems.
