The OEM “spec” for your 229.5 example is a manufacturer approval which dictates the properties. Mercedes-Benz has removed approved grades in some approvals which is a good idea. It’s essentially useless, except for the winter rating in relatively extreme circumstances. All the automated fit systems on eBay, Amazon autozine etc. are going to say it doesn’t fit as your oem spec is like 5w30.
The guy at advanced was shocked when I told him I wanted to put euro 0w30 in a Toyota engine![]()
What does titanium get you in the formulation?
I thought you were being an a-hole. Sorry.
The claims are increased overall engine efficiency, reduced wear, increased fuel economy & reduced exhaust smoke/pollution.
Various companies sell Ti oil additives.
Who knows. Soon every premium oil may contain generous levels of Ti.

Not understanding you at all here. 229.5 requires an HTHS of 3.5 minimum. And is irrelevant in relation to the minimum HT/HS required by the approval.
Yes it does. I meant that it makes an argument between a -30 or a -40 grade mostly irrelevant. Not understanding you at all here. 229.5 requires an HTHS of 3.5 minimum.
The database/search engine of Amazon, eBay, Auto Zone decides if the oil is for your car mostly by its viscosity, not HTHS.Well it's listed in MB's approved oils.
Interesting man, thanks. I wish I hoarded some. I ran like 3 6k ish runs in my E46 M3 years ago and it didn’t do anything noticeable..:.lol. I should have done some used oil analysis back then.As I understand it the "magic" of German Castrol 0W30 was the use of shear stable VII's of premium quality normaly used in German Gear Lube.
HPL also offer's premium shear stable VII's in some product and also some products that use no VII's?
I am not 100% sure on all of this but surely this sort of thing is easy to verify on this site of all sites?
I am enjoying a tasty desert wine so trust but verify! LOL
Does Red Line or Amsoil not make a product that you would like? You might look into those if you have not already! Good Luck.Interesting man, thanks. I wish I hoarded some. I’m gonna hoard some of this “up too 50% PAO” euro 0w30..:lol. I called back Advanved and they offered me the TOTL car quest filter. Awesome deal.

I’ve only used Amsoil for small machine equipment & customers sometimes being in Redline & Amsoil. BG is my go to for synthetic ATF. Really appreciate you man.Does Red Line or Amsoil not make a product that you would like? You might look into those if you have not already! Good Luck.
Like 2 decades ago this site did a group buy on data analysis of German Castrol to SwRI and made it known to all members that paid. Try googling it and see if those files can be found on this modern version of Bitog!
The YT videos I’ve seen of the Carquest EP are very impressive. I wish they didn’t cost so much. I’ll probably buy more.Car Quest filters are really good stuff.
I just stopped by the closest Auto Zone to me and they didn't have any Castrol Euro 0W-30 and also Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 on the shelves.5 quarts of Castrol Euro Edge 0W-30 and a CQP filter with Advance Auto.
Worked at Autozone! Thanks!
Unfortunately their 20% off $100 or more didn't work but I could order multiples of the same deal which I'd need because my truck takes about 6 quarts.
Oreillys near me have the 0w30 (a3/b4) in stock but you have to ask for itI just stopped by the closest Auto Zone to me and they didn't have any Castrol Euro 0W-30 and also Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 on the shelves.

My Advanced only had 5 quarts left in stock after the last five I bought and they saved five quarts for me for almost a month.Oreillys near me have the 0w30 (a3/b4) in stock but you have to ask for it View attachment 335444
It's definitely a hard to find oil. I haven't seen it in-store at Walmart and it doesn't appear on Amazon and eBay either. My Advanced only had 5 quarts left in stock after the last five I bought and they saved five quarts for me for almost a month.![]()
I was looking to order online. I've never actually seen it in person in store.I just stopped by the closest Auto Zone to me and they didn't have any Castrol Euro 0W-30 and also Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 on the shelves.

Every time I see Gummy Bears I think of GC.![]()
Don't forget the smell......
It did not smell like the typical motor oil...
Almost sweet....
I rememberd ^ these impressions by German Castrol, although I've never used it.It smelled like gummy bears!![]()
100% The Green sweet smelling oils are ester synthetics. Doesn’t mean exclusively ester but ester dominate probably.I rememberd ^ these impressions by German Castrol, although I've never used it.
Yesterday, we visited a friend of mine who just got a new motorcycle. I opened his Motul 300V 10W-40 motorcycle oil. It was bright green and smelled very similar to gely sweets and particularly gummy bears. I guess that has something to do with the esters. 300V is advertised as Ester Core oil.
