Georgia pauses gas tax

Its funny how some states like Minnesota can't wait to tax people and then spend money like crazy and North Dakota tries to cut taxes. North Dakota is trying to do away with property taxes.

I may be in the minority here, but I would rather pay a higher income tax and/or sales tax than to pay property tax. I'm a big a proponent of private property ownership which property taxes nullify. If your property can be seized for not paying taxes on it, then you don't truly own it. You're just renting it from the government.

Lol...Is this not common knowledge? Yes, most of the "low tax states" siphon money from the high tax states through the federal government to meet their budgets.

The Rockefeller data cited earlier shows Georgia paid about $118.9 billion in federal receipts and received about $162.6 billion in federal expenditures in 2023, for a net gain of $43.7 billion. In federal fiscal year 2023, the Rockefeller Institute found that 47 states had a positive balance of payments with Washington, meaning they received more in federal spending than federal revenues collected from them; only Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Washington were net donor states that year.

Liers figure and figures lie (by no means calling you a lier).

Worth a second look at the numbers.

We unexpectedly purchased a interim home in New Mexico. We never planned a home in New Mexico..it is reported New Mexico also sucks much more federal monies than New Mexico pays out.

Here is why it is critical of details of the numbers, and other factors.

New Mexico has a large Indian population with very extensive federal government entitlements. These people and their lands generally do not generate monies for the federal government. These people and lands get at a minimum 100 percent free health care. There own police force (federally funded), there own education system (federally funded), the list goes on and on. These lands and people holistically pay nothing into the federal system, but have entitlements for as far as one can see.

Next New Mexico, taking out the tribal lands, has extensive federal lands. bureau of land management has environmental mandated expenses which are very expensive, law enforcement mandates that are very extensive, the list for BLM mandates goes in forever..on a holistic basis, these extensive lands are ineligible to provide any meaningful federal revenue. Same can be said for national forests lands located in New Mexico.

Next let's talk about White Sands. White Sands is the premier location to test missiles in CONUS with a range of over 100 miles. To do this, 100s of square miles of land is off limits for use to generate federal funds. Yet, these White Sands land require federal law enforcement, environmental costs, the list again goes on and on.

New Mexico is a low population state per square mile..much of the land is ineligible to generate federal income, actually it is against federal statutes to use these much if this land to generate federal revenue.

This is one example of how misleading the federal monies paid to federal monies received can be.

That is one thing that would never happen in Illinois. Ours goes up automatically, every year, regardless. It has intentionally been set up that way by our legislature. This is one of the many reasons why people are getting out.

Don't bomb the country who threatened to hit shipping lanes in the Strait and the other US states won't have to adjust their gas tax.
That country has threatened for over forty years to take out all Sunni Muslims, all Christians, atheists, infidels, and all Jews..they have spent four plus decades of oil revenue in careful and extensive preparation to carry out their threats.

Two missiles launched at Diego Garcia in the past 48 hours validated that country is much father advanced in its mid and long range missile capabilities than even the most critical assessments had concluded.

I am heading to Tesla dealership to buy EV since they are 100% NOT affected by crude oil prices.
I own TSLA stock.

Then they should have taken care of it 40 years ago, not 5 years after our longest war.

Are you surprised they're retaliating after their leader was made a martyr?

From what I hear First Force Recon and the Marines out of Kadena are in the area now.

Constructive discourse thus far. Hopefully they'll let it keep going.

I will say this though... a lot of problems could be solved with that $1 trillion/yr thrown away to interest. A common topic is that teachers aren't paid enough. We could take 12% of just that annual interest and give every school teacher a $30k/yr pay raise. We could take just 1% of that annual interest and cover free school lunches for every student. We could take 15% of just one year of it and build high speed rail that would span coast to coast. We could take half of one year of that interest and completely overhaul and update our entire energy infrastructure with it. You get where I'm going with this.

We can't let logic stand in the way of the mission to see how many countries one needs to bomb to win a Nobel Peace prize.

As for whether or not there was credible threat... it's hard to say. If we hadn't meddled there in the first place on behalf of BP oil, there likely wouldn't be a threat to begin with. Regardless, I don't think that's the sole or the main reason we're involved in this mess.

That whole mess isn't winnable anyway. The quote by Quintus Ennius rings profoundly... "A victor is not victorious if the vanquished do not consider themselves so." Iran's only mission is survival. If the conflict ends and Iranian nationhood still remains in any relevance to current capacity, then we have not won and they have not lost. It's a lesson we didn't learn from Vietnam nor Afghanistan. The result will be the same with just a bunch of buried bodies, more debt, and deeper rooted resentment against us.

It is not surprising at all, there is a threat to their business model of handing down control, to include land and monies, to their heirs, instead of people who earned it, deserved it, or have the intellectual smarts for it.

This is about maintaining control of money to a very selective group. Nothing more. There is a reason the new Supreme Leader owns a mansion in London on Billionaires Row.
