General Altimax RT43's

I need new tires for my 2007 Camry LE, which is a daily driver in Maryland. About equal time highway and city. I have read good things about General Altimax RT43 tires, and can get a set of 4 mounted and balanced for $400 total. I will be using them all year, and I rotate my tires with each 5,000 - 6,500 mile OCI. Longevity and safety are my two biggest concerns. Can anyone comment on these, or suggest something else?

Have them on my '11 Camry, quite pleased with them, even though I didn't get to the rated treadlife. For the price I didn't care, as it was something similar priced. 40 or 45k is what I got? something like that. Wife and I thought they handled snow better than Michelin Engergies or Primacies.

I don't recall any change in perceived noise after putting on the second set, so I'd have to say they not only wore evenly but did not get noisy at the end.

I put a set of them on my MiLs car. As long as you rotate them regularly then they should be fine. Many complain about noise if you do not cross/rotate properly.

Good all season tire that works in light snow as well.

Previously I had a set of Michelin Harmonys and they decent tires and lasted 85K. However, they were HORRIBLE in the rain. I now have the Generals stated above and I really like them. Albeit, I have two minor gripes about them. 1.) the do have a little ttread growl at low speeds and 2.) the dry condition handling isn't as good as the Michelins. They are far superior in the wet, and I am more than excited to see how they perform in snow. Supposedly they are some of the best all seasons in snow conditions. For the price you can't beat them.

I have a set on my Buick. I hope they never quit making them because I don't want anything else. They ride like soft rubber caster wheels and they look fantastic.

Keep in mind those tires come in different speed rating for the same size for many size offerings. So if your car came with H rated tires, going to a t rated tire may ride better but your steering response won't be as sharp. Tires that last a long time don't tend to do as well on wet surfaces.

I had them on our Lexus year'round and just loved them. They were wonderful in our Western NY State winter as well. I think you'll like them.

To be more specific, the RT-43's:
*Tracked nicely on the highway
*Cornered nicely/confidently around turns
*Has good broken road absorption
*Smooth & Quiet
*Didn't hurt fuel economy

They're alright Camry tires. I have a set on my Camry, I haven't been thrilled with them but they're ok I guess. Handling isn't that great. It sticks around corners but it's like driving on a road of mashed potatoes. Wet traction is good and noise is fine.

I had one defective tire at around 20k miles, it made the car pull really bad. Discount Tire replaced it under warranty, drives straight as an arrow.

Then I got a nail in another and they said it wasn't repairable. Replaced under warranty as well, so I have 2 new ones on the front.

I haven't been thrilled with the treadlife, the original 2 on the rear have 6/32" left after 25k miles.

That's OK by me. With the previous Michelin's, it was like driving with Fred Flintstone's concrete wheels.

I put a set of the RT43's on my 2010 Impala April of last year. They are far superior to the Goodyear Integrity tires that came on it from the factory. When I need another set of tires, I hope General still has the RT43 in production.

Ha, this Camry gets pushed to it's limits every single day! Doesn't have much power so it is run hard.

The previous Goodyears weren't sloppy so...

Had the Altimaxs on my Hyundai and they exceeded the mileage quota. The Hankook didnt do well at all on the Accent.
