Generac OCI observations

No way am i running a 5w-20 in an air-cooled engine.
Well... It is what the manual calls for. The Generac 22kW to 26kW maintenance kit's comes with 5W20 Generac synthetic oil as well.
Changing viscosity can void the warranty. Mine is two years old (needing maintenance now) with a seven year factory warranty. I'd hate to void it by not going with the recommended oil weight.

It is strange how the smaller kW units call for 5W30 oil...

Buy the generac oil , keep the receipt and run what oil you want in it.

Fwiw I don't think the weekly 5 minute exercise run is sufficient; first day of every quarter I manually flip the transfer switch to power the house with the genset for an hour or so.
24kW, M1 0w40.

Source on changing the oil voiding the warranty? Never heard that with Generac
