Looking at swapping my LS1 for a gen 4 iron block and getting my parts list ready. I was able to source a gen 4 iron block (just the L96 block itself) This will be a boosted 403ci stroker. This will be an all 58x setup controlled with an aftermarket ECM.
If wanting to use a stock 24x gen 3 ECM, one would need to replace certain parts. The parts that would be needed instead are:
Cam Gear sprocket 1x 12576407
Cam sensor gen 3 Non VVT, Part 19420911
Crank position sensor 24x 12560228
Front timing cover without the sensor on it 12561243
Crankshaft with 24x reluctor wheel 12559353
LS2/LS3 Valley Cover has gaskets that seal to the bosses on the block for AFM delete - 12599296 has PVC tube, 12598832 no PVC tube
Tap the block to move the knock sensors on the side of the block if you are keeping them - gen 3 knock sensor is 12589867
It's better to just source a gen 3 block rather than a gen 4 block if wanting to use it with a 24x ECM, but since mine will be controlled by a Holley dominator, I wanted 58x.
