I see regional post's in the forum so here goes. This is a repost from a truck enthusiast site I belong to. This shop is worth the trip if you are in a 50 mile radius.

I had this shop recommended sometime ago as a go to shop for our trucks. Well, I can see why....I took my DD there for a wheel alignment. It is a 2011 Kia with new Nexen tires. I knew it needed to be lined up by the wear on the old tires. This shop is old school with a Great Bear machine and walls full of tools...my alignment cost less than $70 and drives better than I ever remember it driving. Oh, the shop name? Olsens Alignment and Brake in Avenel NJ. 1088 Rahway Ave. He does not advertise on the internet but you will find references to it there. Area code 732 MErcury 4-9856, this how it its written on my bill......yeah, old school.

And another thing: AVOID St Georges Ave (in Linden.) Azevedo is a cool shop, though. Especially if you have a VW, Audi, BMW, or Porsche. His specialties.

Very thoughtful of you to put in a good word for that shop, and I'm sure the owner will appreciate you doing so. It's hard to find a shop that specializes in brakes and alignment, and when you do, you will know they do quality work and have a reputation for quality work. I hope other members in the area will patronize Olsen, they deserve it for hiring techs who are qualified. Regards

Interesting, I'll have to look into that. I wonder if they use a spreader bar to do front ends properly in cars that spec it.

This shop was recommended to get 67-72 Chevy trucks front ends worked on(stock and lowered). The gentleman that owns is/was 77 years old or so when I went there this year. I am convinced there is not a better place to be had when you look at the "big box" specialty franchises out there in comparison. I dropped my car off in the morning(calling ahead for an appointment)got on the train at Avenel to work and reversed the process in the afternoon, couldn't be happier.

Hello, Many Super Uber-Thanks for the post.

FYI: Avenel is next to a REALLY USEFUL zone of dismantling yards in Rahway, NJ.

There are at least 6 general and one big truck/SUV specialty yard called "All American". That one had been exclusively Jeep (sister with >15 years XJ ownership) but branched out. Good people.

Rahway is within easy driving distance of San Diego, Oklahoma City and Lexington, KY. (Ha-Ha)

Heavens, I'll go by Olsen's alignment shop and just say Hi! Kira

...and no, I do not work at or own All American. They are just helpful.

I don't like Firestone. They have a lifetime only option and you can transfer it to 1 vehicle but it is much higher price and when you go back they always seem to find something else wrong that no one else does. I have taken it somewhere else and was told there was no problem as I suspected. Not sure why they are just replacing things to make work and money or

I grew up in Colonia NJ, right next to Avenel & Rahway. I remember spending many a Saturday in those "junk yards" with my father as he searched for parts to keep his vehicles going as cheaply as possible. Of course that was 40 + years ago

I was at All American yesterday, as I had a bit of an issue with the wheel and tire on the Expedition (some things are best left unsaid.) Here is All American. They had "almost" the same wheel - but in correct size and bolt pattern - for $53.50. Below is All American, at 192 Leesville Ave. Nice and helpful.

By comparison.. AAA has yet to be cleared by me of buying a $70 trunk lid from a place in Paterson and charging me $200 for same. We will know Monday. A little busier than the other place, and... I really hope they didn't jack me, and in fact sourced a different lid. But $200 is waaay more than $70. .....

I have gotten parts from AAA before so I dont want to believe they would do something like that. I suppose I will know when I check Monday at the other place.

BTW: For we NJians, this is on 1&9 South at the sign that says Elston Ave. All the yards are in that area.

Can you spot the new wheel? (And tire?)

Now, if I can locate two more like the ones on this side, I will be golden. But I do not know the description, or material. Only that they are 265/70R17 and the yards were saying that they seem to be from later than a 1999.. This is the Eddie Bauer. ??

Good alignment techs are hard to find. Most alignment techs do [censored] quality work.

AAS stock #141139 should match your three for $75
Barons auto wrecking on Morgansville #990412 should match for $48

Edit: I went to AAS when I needed a wheel for the Taurus, it was under graded, then overpriced, and I'd have to wait. And I know they cater to trade, but there counter demeanor wasn't one of they wanted my business.

An on the fly phone search put me at Leesville Auto right next door, and for less money I got 2 better condition rims, and they were much more receptive of my admittedly more plebian business then they deal with day to day.

Pat Musi's (mountain motor/pro mod engine builder) shop was also in that general area.

I don't know if he is still there or not.
