I have been reading so much about GC on BITOG that I finally had to try it. Last weekend, I put GC in my 1997 Nissan pickup and it's been great so far. The engine has been running a lot quieter than it did on Mobil 1 5w30. My wife's RX330 is coming up soon for an oil change. I was thinking of using GC rather than Mobil 1 5w30 in it. I searched the used oil analysis section but found no info. Suggestions/opinions?

I almost posted the same thing.......we have a little over 24,000 miles on RX330 and I have been running Mobil 1 5W30. It just seems like Mobil 1 and Toyota engines are good match (based upon the used oil analysis I looked at). I thought I remembered reading how Toyota engines liked a light 30W vice a heavier 30W.
It was a no-brainer for my Audi A4, it LOVES the GC 0W30.

I must add my standard caveat however...while I don't think it likely that you would have an oil-related warranty problem (not with the Elixer of Luxurious Lexus Lubrication), you should check your manual. If it calls for a 5W30, 0W30 should pose your service department no concern.
There's certainly nothing wrong with being cautious about one's warranty, but in this situation, I don't think it's much of an issue. As a practical matter, I think that the mfr would have an exceedingly tough time proving, which the mfr must do to sustain a wty denial, that the use of GC led to any engine problem that would not have occurred on 5w30 or 10w30. When hot, GC is on the thick side, but still a 30. When cold, it simply flows better than a 5w or 10w oil would. Based upon its basic syn composition, and its known HT/HS vis of 3.6, there won't be any shear issues as there might be from a theoretical mineral 0w30 (has anyone actually seen a mineral 0w-30?).
