Has anybody tried GC in their Kohler. I was thinking of giving it a try in the Kohler 27hp Courage , that I have in my Cub Cadet tractor.

I have a 14HP Kohler Command that has been on a rear-engine Snapper I bought way back in 1993. It has been absolutely bullet-proof. Not even a spark plug yet. I have run GC,Rotella,Schaeffer in it and it just does not care which I run. Never has used a drop of oil and is clean as a whistle inside. That was back when Snapper used the Kohler engines. Snapper has gone downhill since those days.

I'm just a cautious, This Kohler I have gets hot. I am currentlry using Mobil 15w40 delvac, and by the time I am done cutting the lawn, it has a bit of valvetrain clatter. And I know that they are sensative about the oil that is used in them, for this noise.

Mine has had the clatter in it since it was new. It too gets hot. All air cooled engines do. Kohler engines have always been reliable and durable but they are not known for their quietness or smoothness.

I use German Castrol in my 13hp Honda pressure washer engine. No oil consumption at all. Oil still "looks" clean after quite some usage.
In your case, you know that synthetics are much more tolerant of high engine temperatures, so the valve clatter may quieten down with the GC.
GC is what I would be using.
GC is also in my pressure washer pump, and the other day I drained it for inspection and it looked nearly good as new, so I dumped it right back in.
