GC 0w30 or RedLine 10w30?

I have a '06 Subaru Impreza WRX STI that I want to use synthetic now. I used a high quality non-synthetic for the first 10k. Now I've been reading around and made a thread on here (this being my second one) asking about Redline oils.

I live in Houston, TX which is at 97°F during the day. Of course it will be in the 100s later in the summer.

From my other thread they recommend I use Red Line 10w30 (over 10w40). They say it would be perfect for my application and it hardly shears. If I also wanted to do track days, be in stop and go traffic, hard pulls it would be no problem.

So, I've heard great things about GC and RD. I just don't know which one to go with....? Any help, guys?

GC 0w30 made in germany is good stuff [ if you can find it ]

Redline 5w30, 10w30, or 5W-40 is better in my humble opinion.

You'll Redline 5w30 and 10w30 are quite close in viscosity.

Have you ran both of the Redline xW-30's and if so which one do you like better?

Both are very robust oils. Neither will hurt you. I recall only one comment here that GC thickened slightly after heavy track use, but still performed well.

But for your situation, I'd go with the Redline. I don't know of any oil that does better around a turbocharger. You shouldn't need a 5w oil where you live.

FWIW to you, I have both of these oils in our lube cabinet and run Red Line 10w30 in our '06 R.

Still, I'll miss the GC once our current stockpile is used up.

I like the Redline 5w30 and 10W-40 the best.

I run the Redline 10W-40 in my faithful '86 325es.

I ran Redline 5W-40 in a Subaru that had been running Redline 5w30. I didn't notice much difference, but I did test the 5W-40 at 10K and it looked great.
