I decided to take one last sample to send off for a UOA before I trade my car in for a 97 Corvette. I did not change the oil though.

3200 miles on oil
May 16-July 30 (2 1/2 months)
106,000 miles on engine
German Castrol Syntec 0w30
K&N oil filter
AC Delco air filter
Daily driver, lots of full throttle
5L oil capacity
0.5L top up oil

Wearcheck added a few things this time around, such as soot and ZDDP (which I'm not sure what they are measuring)

Iron is higher than I figured it would be, and the oil thickened up more than usual, especially given the low oxidation, but the wear numbers look great to me. Hopefully my LS1 Corvette shows even better wear numbers when I see it's first UOA (my plan is to immediately switch that car to GC 0w30 with a K&N oil filter, then run the first interval for 5000 miles)

It's certainly a good report, but isn't Fe a bit high?

Yes, I did mention I felt iron was a bit too high in this report, I should've said the wear numbers other than iron look great. I've seen lower iron in this vehicle in the past, my very first run with GC last year showed only about 8ppm of iron in 3k if I recall correctly.

And someone is going to get a very well mantained awesome ******* car

Man, what can I say about these low wear GM engines.

That contrary to popular belief, all chevy's aren't worn slap out at 100,000. ;-)

Wow, that looks good Patman, all kidding aside, I do hope my 121k 4.6 ford modular does near this well after an a-rx application as the old school GM engine did in your case. Was that a Blackstone submitted sample?

I got my oil analyzed by Wearcheck Canada actually.

Someone is definitely getting a good car here. Yet again I treated a vehicle as if I was going to keep it a very long time, but only had this vehicle for just under 3 years and only about 55,000 miles. I could've used any crappy oil and it would've lasted me this long.

Where's the high copper all GMs are supposed to have? Iron does seem a little high, wonder how that would increase over a longer interval?

"106,000 miles on engine" may be the reason the copper is now pretty normal. I don't think we've seen any LS1, LT1, etc. engines with this many miles that were maintained this well.

I don't really think the iron is out of line compared to M1 for instance. Of course I don't know if it's all that much better with GC either...

That is a gem on an engine. The new owner sure is lucky!

This is an LT1 engine though, the previous generation of GM small block V8s, and it never suffered from high copper levels like the Gen 3 small blocks do (LS1, LS6, and the different truck motors like the 5.4, 6.0, etc.)

It'll be interesting to see how my upcoming LS1 Corvette does, with 71k on it, the copper levels should be relatively low (under 10ppm in a 5k interval I predict)

I don't think their is a better motor oil right now then GC, any grade. It's more consistant then any oil I've seen. When can we get a breakdown of what it is? I'll chip in.

All the humor (I hope everyone saw it that way) about elixers and peace and love aside...I firmly believe in this stuff and that is why it has become an issue with me. I'm glad so many people are finding it works well in their engines. Let's just hope Castrol keeps progressing from here and improving this product. I think it will take something with just a bit of charisma to equal what we have seen with SLX, so even though it would be neat to have some more Euro choices, I have no intention of moving to anything else. I have to admit...it won't be the same if they start brewing it in the US even if it is the same formula. From my perspective, it doesn't hurt to have a little EU charm in the mix.

Patman , i surrender..

I couldn't resist myself today. I went and bought the thickest 5W30 i could find..the fuchs titan.
It will be my first 30 weight oil ever.
I am so curious to see how better my little engine is going to rev.
