Here is my 3rd UOA on this car. The first one was the BMW 5w-30 Synthetic the Dealer uses. The last two are GC Gold 0w-30. Blackstone has it listed as 5w-30, but that is incorrect.

I would appreciate all comments.

"Hopefully iron behaves itself."

That certainly lends confidence in the reading. I gotta say, your best UOA was at 18,855 miles. You might want to have Terry take a look at this and give his reading.

Higher iron in GC seems to be fairly common. It does look a lot better than your first run with it though. Everything else looks good. As a fellow MCS driver also running GC, I look forward to seeing how well this oil performs over the next couple changes.

They didn't tell you what the UA was based on. It would appear, due to their limited suggested extension, that the UA is only slightly below (maybe above) your current mileage.

My first report stated that the UA was based on 5400 miles of use. These UA numbers are almost identical to those.

Overall fantastic. I'd go at least 6k miles next time. The TBN was barely even affected. Flashpoint is very high for used oil indicating there is very little fuel in the oil. Insolubles very low. Air filter is working very well or at least there's not much dirt in your air where you drive.

Based on these 3 UOAs I would go back to the dealer oil, if you can get it, was the viscosity on the original oil thicker or thinner than the GC?

The first oil analysis showed a TBN of 4.8 on the BMW oil.
The BMW oil is also less than $5 per quart so I picked up 5 quarts when my car was in for maintenance.

Guess I'll add that during the previous interval I had gauze cone air filter. This was the interval I had elevated iron.

This past interval I used the stock paper filter and the iron is down and likely to go down further.

Would you all agree?

Maybe the improvement was going to a paper filter or maybe it was due to using the same oil twice. I don't know. But it looks like GC is holding up well chemically VERY well in your engine, which may not get enough credit by some when looking at UOAs.
