Is there a place online somewhere that can tell me which Gator blade is the correct replacement for my OEM blade?

According to Toro, the OEM blade for my mower (20333) is 108-9764-03. This blade uses two mounting holes. However, when I try to find a matching gator blade, it shows it as a single mounting hole blade which I know is not going to fit. I'm stumped. Is there no gator blade for my application?

Based on the Toro number 108-9764-03, this is the OEM toro blade:

and this is the gator blade (96-607)

So that toro number is not the toro blade that is on your mower.

Is it possible to pull the blade off and see what number is stamped on it?

Really? So am I better off just ordering the OEM blade?

After doing a lot of research on Gator Blades I came across a reoccuring problem.
It seems that if you have a older mower, or a mower that is designed for bagging, a Gator Blade helps it mulch. However if you have a newer mower, one that has a deck designed for mulching, then the OEM blade does a better job and the Gator Blade does a worse job.

I have a Toro Recycler. I currently have 1 blade, which is on the machine, but I would love to have 2, just so that I can switch them out once a season and keep a fresh sharp one in rotation.

For my newer mower I would stick with an OEM blade.

What is the idea of the gator blade? Does it help the mower mulch the grass better? Can you swap them in place of normal blades on a lawn tractor? I'd like to mulch with our John Deere G110 riding mower (home depot version), and the dealer quoted me $1128 for the mulching kit. I could just buy a whole new walk behind mower that mulches for that.

Grasshopper lists a Gator-type blade as a OE option. I talked to one other Grasshopper owner that swears by Gator blades on his machine. My machine originally had them, but they had been worked so long the serrations on the lift portions were all but completely gone. I opted for a "contoured" blade (looks like a mulching blade on a typical mulching mower) from Grasshopper this go around, but will probably order the Gator blade to see if it works better.

jeepman: From what I gather is the serrations cut the bits up smaller and smaller. I'm not sure they are meant to replace a mulching mower blade, but as an upgrade on a non-mulching mower to prevent clumping?

Yeah I should have clarified, but would it help mulch the grass on a non-mulching deck? I have a Toro Recycler push mower, but it takes forever on my large lawn. Just wondering if adding the gator blades to the Deere riding mower with a 3 blade side discharge deck would help a little. I'm thinking about trying the gator blades instead of the $1100 dollar mulching kit Deere sells.

Long story short, gator blades work great if you mulch.

They don't have much lift so cut quality can suffer, some "stragglers" always seem to be left behind. If you are bagging, then you might have problems with clogs/clumps due to reduced air flow. The last two gators I got both had to be balanced out of the package. The blades are thicker than OEM and seem pretty tough.

Next time I take my blade off for sharpening, I will have to see if I can find a part number on it. It's definitely not 108-9764-03 since mine's a mulching blade and does not look anything like the picture mechjames posted.

Well, I got the blade off today, but unfortunately I cannot make out the model/part number. All I know is that it's a mulching blade. I'll have to contact Toro. Hopefully they'll help me figure it out.

Wow... Toro Customer Service is a bit of a disappointment. First they tell me that my mower is not a mulching mower (despite their own website saying that it is) and there is no mulching blade for it. They give me a part number for a non-mulching blade (108-9764-03) which is not the blade that I have. So, I bring this to their attention and email them the photo of my original blade (the one pictured above).

A week goes by, and they come back with another response. This time they acknowledge that my mower is in fact a mulching mower and give me a new part number for the blade: 108-9767-03.

Unfortunately, after doing some searches on different websites, I cannot find anything about this part number. Does anyone know where to get this? Or did Toro screw up again and gave me the wrong part number once more?

open you rear hatch on the mower. write down your # and serial #. Go to Toro.com. click customer support. enter model # and select serial # range. click look up parts. view the blade fiche. write down number. go to partstree.com and see how much it costs...done

Well, that is the first thing I did. However, that brings up the 108-9764-03 number which is the non-mulching blade and which is incorrect supposedly. That is why I started exchanging emails with Toro Customer Support in the first place. Their online info is all screwed up.

Pretty sure I have some of those sitting on a shelf at work. I will take a look tomorrow and let you know what the number is. They are OEM Toro blades ordered directly from Toro.

I'll get on the dealer website and see what it says too...can't remember the login off the top of my head.

It looks like 108-9764-03 is the blade you want. I've got seven of them on a shelf and all are mulching blades. They were ordered directly from Toro pretty recently.

It does not say mulching blade on the part description, but they definitely are.

Plus, I don't think you will be getting any 108-9767-03...when I enter the number on the parts ordering website it just says "invalid material."

Thanks for checking. Do they look like the one in the image I posted above on 5/30? Specifically, do they have 3 mounting holes as opposed to just a single hole?

I am 99.9% sure the blades I have at work have three holes. We use them on pretty much every 22" Toro, with or without a blade clutch. The blades look exactly the same, but I will check tomorrow to be certain they have the three holes.
