Here's a question...
I have a 2003 GMC Sierra, 5.3L, 4x4 and I do "Kick 'er down" to 5000 RPM on occasion to (literally watch) the carbon blow out of the exhaust pipe.
So, does driving it nice and reving it up once and a while better or worse on the engine than if I did not blow the carbon out and drove it "grandma nice" all of the time...???
