Gasoline brand based on oil brand?

Back to beating the Top Tier dead horse.
QuikTrip totally dominates the St. Louis market. Will jump prices and the others follow almost immediately. If you track average costs on Gas Buddy you can see this jerky-- fast up, slow drop pricing. During the slow drop stage QT will often under price the competitors by a penny or two-- then jump everything up by fifteen cents on Tuesday. The others follow along, usually within a half hour. Bizarre and I've never seen this kind of behavior in any market. Most areas this size don't have the same price for almost every station.
Murphy and Costco will try to hold on to old prices after QT jumps it, so my inclination to use Top Tier gas disappears if there's a nickel or so a gallon to be saved.
The other reason for QT's dominance is that the stores are bigger, brighter, well stocked, crawling with cops and have lots of staff. Who wants to walk into a 7-11 at midnight? Have no other information on Kansas City, Tulsa or other QT towns but that formula works here. Lately Circle K has been getting aggressive on soda prices, that brings me into there-- or Mobil for refills-- Mobil company run stores are almost as nice as QT, but they don't seem as busy.
I do use Kendall oil but seldom go into Conoco-Phillips stations even though they, like QT sell Top Tier. Stations just aren't as nice, although Phillips has been improving things.
So-- 1. Safe, well lit, soda, cops. 2. Top Tier 3. Price-- would be more important-- but there is no price difference in this market. 4. Related oil brand-- who cares?

Think there's an actual organization behind TopTier which checks such things, look at their web page. Unfortunately, advertising benefits from this were short lived, and there doesn't seem to be much publicity about it now.

People can believe what ever they want about top tier gas. I don't believe all gas is the same. I've had clogged injectors from using non top tier gas like Mobil and Sunoco. I only use Shell now and so far never had an injector clog and my cars run better. I'm not going to try to save a few pennies a gal on gas and gum up my injectors. That is penny wise and pound foolish. The only problem is so many consumers are like that so cheap products dominate the market.
