Gasoline brand based on oil brand?

Do any of you choose your brand of gasoline based on the brand of oil you use? For example, Castrol GTX (BP gas)..Mobil 1 (Mobil Gas)..Pennzoil/QS/Shell (Shell Gasoline). And what I’m asking is, do you choose it based on brand of oil and try to stick to that one brand as much as possible unless on a trip and have to use a different gas station?

Interesting question.....

I've often thought 'with how high-quality I find PC oils to be, I should use their gas'....but PC gas is always close to the most expensive gas in the area, AND their rewards program ('Petro-Points') isn't very generous.

I go to Canadian Tire for my gas, as it is very easy to collect 'Canadian tire money' using flyer coupons. I've used C-T oils several times in the past, so I guess the amswer for me is 'occassionally'!

No, I choose it based on which brand CC is giving the best rebate compared to the pump price.

I.E. if I can get Shell or BP at a 5% discount using my Shell or BP MasterCard/Visa, when gas is 2.50/gallon, that's a $0.125/gallon less.

So even if Shell is $.02/gallon more, it's still a dime less with the discount applied.

I always use whatever is cheapest... If the price is right, I'll use a different gas station each time just for variety.

There is a Phillips 66 in town that sells premium (93) for only 10 cents higher than regular. I use that station any time I can, since all the other stations charge 30 cents extra for premium.

I would say yes and no. I do use the same oil and gas but that's only because the available quality gas around me is Shell and Shell makes a good oil with QS and Pennzoil. I also notice that Shell seems to use nitrogen in both their fuel and oil as a cleaner.

On the other hand Mobil has a good oil with MC 5000 but I would not use their gas because in my locale it does not have enough detergents to keep fuel injectors clean.

I do not use the same brand gas/oil. I always knew which brands were connected but, I never went out of my way to stay "brand loyal" in this regard.

I try to use Chevron gasoline as much as possible because they are the only stations around here that say 100% gasoline right on the pump, as well as being top tier. If I cannot get to a Chevron then I use Shell or BP.

"Top Tier" is a marketing gimick. Do you really believe "Turkey Hill Minit Markets" have quality standards for their gasoline purchases?

I know it's not popular around here to think it's so....but there are plenty of honest corporations run by honest people throughout this country. Heck throughout the world....even in China......Yikes.

Plenty of dishonest ones too....but they only make it tougher for the good guys.

I don't know anything about "top tier" standards, but I do find some of the "top tier" brands highly dubious, much like you mentioned. Kwik Trip doesn't say "best of the best" to me.

I also only purchase top tier fuel and it happens in this area to include Shell. I do like SOPUS products, but Shell is the only top tier retailer in N.E. Ohio.

We don't have any Chevrons, Texacos, Quicktrip etc here.

I used to live in the region where Kwik Trips are. They're pretty good. As far as brand image goes, I'd rank them above some of the nationwide majors.

Nah... the majority of the time I go to gas stations that don't necessarily have a major motor oil brand attached to them.

I like chevron oils but I dont use the gas. The chevron gas is usually 20-30 cent more in this area. I use Costco gas or Union 76 gas when I can. Theres a good 76 station on my way to work that sells just as cheap as costco.

It's very few Union 76 station in my area, Chevron is not more expensive here compares with Shell or Mobil or Texaco. I buy Sams Club gas whenever possible, otherwise it's Chevron or Shell ...

No. oil brand and gas brand have no correlation to me. I do like Kendall oil, and I do use Phillips66 gas most of the time, but it has nothing to do with the mfg.

I don't use them because they are ConocoPhillips but becase they are good products, individually, and sold at a good price. I use P66 gas because it is the cheapest quality gas sold here.

I almost always use either Mobil gas or Marathon gas. Both stations are very common in my area. Plus, I get 5% off Marathon gas with their rewards credit card.
