I used to be poor, it sucked, I lived off an income of less than $7,000 a year. I still managed to pay books and tuition.

Don't cry anywhere near me because I made it.

I now hold stock in energy companies, health care, furniture, you name it.

It cost what it costs. If you don't like it, don't buy it. No one said you could live like a prince for nothing

Agreed..thanks for saying it better than I could.

eh. I'm glad you've "made it." I guess I've made it as well but that's not really what I was referring to.

FWIW, I'm much closer to capitalism than I am to socialism - but I think it's worthwhile to discuss the merits of free markets as applied to essential commodities.

I can choose to cut down on my fuel consumption by using occasional transit/carpool options (as per following original intent of thread) but I still end up - as do you - paying for higher fuel costs when I buy groceries.

njc,

What’s essential can be a very entertaining discussion.

Like I said before, cheap energy is gone. Plan on being cold, hot and riding a moped if you don’t have much money.

Farmers costs have already gone up. Expect to pay more at the supermarket.

People without much means are going to get along just fine. They do so without much complaining. It's the people with more money that b_itch and whine and want a free lunch that will make noise.

"Thanks for the republican line...its been very entertaining/enlightening."

Libertarian

I give plenty off money to people who need it.

I’ll give $100 to the Red Cross if you pledge the same.

Are you in?
