Gas station charged my card twice

There is a motel I stay at that seems to always overcharge everyone, waiting on my bill to notify the cc company if it doesn’t match the receipt
So, why do you stay there? Two friends and I ate at a restaurant just north of Phoenix. I gave a decent tip. The waitress gave herself a larger tip. I contacted the credit card company and they immediately reduced it to the tip I put down, no questions asked. It must be a fairly regular occurrence.

They usually take it right off. The problem is when you have autopay, it messes all that up because they send you a new card. I'm taking off all my autopay stuff now and going back to paying things manually. Just got off the phone with xfinity and it turns out the cable was turned off becaise my autopay card expired. I guess they sent me a notification, but when you get 50 spam emails everyday it gets lost.

We had an issue with Fastrac gas stations getting skimmed locally. There was a period of twice within two months where my card got compromised within an hour of getting gas at a fastrac. A friend of mine worked on card reader equipped things ( ATM, Gas pump) and said that all of the local Fastrac gas stations were getting skimmed.

Don't know why , specifically , one chain. I never had duplicate charges though. Usually a call from the bank alerting me to fraudulent activity.

My local credit union is always good about calling. Chase visa however never calls, but I will get a text if I make a large purchase out of the norm.

Cash, the secure transaction source. Never a problem yet as we were taught how to count and make change back when schools actually taught. My money in my pocket my control. My money in their plastic their control.

We have noticed at most or all restaurants we get an immediate text of the meal charge but never get notified of the tip that we write on the bill. Same thing for you guys?

The restaurant submits the final bill including tip later. Usually they do them all at the end of the night.

Yeah the tip gets added when it goes to a posted charge. Very easy to overlook an extra tip

Had a situation recently where I ordered take-out and added a tip. The manager came up to me somewhat sheepishly a few minutes later and said that they were out of corned beef for the reuben sandwich Mom wanted, so I wound up cancelling the order and they processed a refund to the card. The tip never made it into/out of the transaction; all that showed on my account when I checked later was the charge for the sandwich and the refund for the sandwich.

You mean they stole your tip?

You mean they stole your tip?
Oh, no. It wasn't on the original transaction. That's why I checked the account before I left, to make sure that the tip didn't somehow make it into the process, or if it did, that it also got backed out. Everything was done correctly.

For my Utility bills, (on auto pay), I have them withdraw from my 'checking acct'.
Yes, I do not receive any 'rewards', .... but it's worth it.
I've never been a fan and after talking to my phone provider yesterday, I'm glad I don't. Payment is due the 10th so I signed on yesterday to see if the check made it. My balance due was displayed in bright red letters and there was a warning that my account payment is overdue, and the due date is still the 10th. Poked around a bit and found that they did get my check on the 6th. Tried their chatbot, which was totally useless; I got stuck in a loop where it told me my account was overdue and did I want to pay? I responded that I already paid so why would I want to pay again? It then came back and confirmed that payment was received on the 6th, and did I want to pay my outstanding balance now. I finally called and talked to a human who verified that they were having system problems and a lot of accounts are showing past-due when they're not. He had access to another system and confirmed that my account was up-to-date and that payment was posted on the 6th.

I have to wonder if they would have kept doing multiple withdrawals on my checking account if that was set up.
