The gas station chains will use any excuse they can, especially if it's in the news - an oil tanker seized by the US military, a "refinery shutdown" in California, etc. I'll bet they tell the stores these so they have an answer in case anyone asks.LOL. The tanker caused crude a 80 cent spike for a few hours - if you can even call it a spike and it was down by open the next day. They will use any excuse to improve margins.
$2.19 again today - was definitely on to what’s going onJust got Exxon for $2.19
It’s a conspiracy I tell you![]()
It’s worse than that up here. A lot of stations charge as much as 45 cents per LITER more for premium, so that’s an extra $1.70 per gallonWhat floors me is the price gap from regular to premium. Usually a full dollar.

I vaguely remember years ago that each step up was a dime. So something like $1.50 for regular, $1.70 for premium. I’m talking 1990’s.It’s worse than that up here. A lot of stations charge as much as 45 cents per LITER more for premium, so that’s an extra $1.70 per gallon![]()
Actually it wasn’t that long ago that Costco was only ten cents a liter more for premium. It was within the last three years for sure.I vaguely remember years ago that each step up was a dime. So something like $1.50 for regular, $1.70 for premium. I’m talking 1990’s.
I’d hold offWelp, a person can always move to Iran where the first 15 gallons of the month is 1.25 cents. Cents, not dollars. The next 26 gallons is 2.5 cents.![]()
