Gas from Mexico?

Saw this truck in town today. Thing was in pretty rough shape compared to the other fuel haulers I see around.

Wonder if the fuel is any better or worse than the usual swill we get here?

Not saying it's supplying them, but there are Pemex stations in the Central Valley now. It's a very smart marketing move.

I just toured a shipping port in TX & it was stated that Mexico Gasoline uses another petro based additive instead of ethanol. It causes more emmissions than what we have here. Their government allows it. The oil companies can make it go further than ethanol. I wouldn't want to run any of their fuel in my truck even at a cheaper cost.

Are we sure that truck was bringing gasoline to the USA from Mexico. There are no Mexican refineries in the NW part of Mexico. More likely it was taking USA gasoline to the northern Mexico cities.

Are you inferring that Mexican made gas is being sold in CA?

Mexico Gasoline uses another petro based additive instead of ethanol.

That would be MTBE. It was once common in the USA but was banned because of its potential for water pollution when unburned MTBE-containing gasoline leaks into groundwater.

MTBE smells and tastes awful, even in minute quantities. Most people can immediately detect that a glass of water is contaminated with a few ppm of MTBE, and they make a big stink about it.

Most of the MTBE that Mexico uses is manufactured in the USA. These companies lobby in Mexico against replacing it with ethanol.
